Jill Biden To Soldier: That’s Dr. Biden To You

Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill were at Fort Bragg today welcoming home soldiers.  A friend of mine who is currently stationed there attended the event and got to meet the the Second Lady up close.  As she moved past him, he said “Hello, Mrs. Biden.”

Her response?  “It’s Doctor Biden.”

That’ll teach him, I guess.

I checked Doctor Biden’s Wikipedia entry and sure enough, she’s got a doctorate.  In education.  Which she received two years ago.

So I guess she can lay claim to the honorific if she wants to, but I’ve always had to laugh at the arrogant snobs who feel the need to require that other people address them as “doctor.”  Especially when the “doctor” in question isn’t exactly a hearth surgeon or anything.
