What a refreshing change from making old, tired Washington insiders veep! Heh.

From a partisan perspective, this is going to be fun!

  • http://www.valleydeals.com/cgi-bin/board2/YaBB.pl Kevin

Maybe she can talk some sense into Mac about drilling in ANWR.

  • HG

Just as I said, a cheap triangulated decision to steal the election by betraying principle

More BS from H. What principle is betrayed by being the first woman to be VP?

  • Hannitized

On another note, there is going to be a lot of Right-wing kooks making the accusation that because we note Sarah has a screeching voice we are somehow “sexist” or something completely stupid like that.

The truth is, none of us had the same criticism of Condi, who comes across as quote capable. Few, if any, notice Condi’s voice. With Sarah, she really comes across as the typical PTA mom who might have had some good breaks.

Bottom line, she is not impressive.

  • carrick

Flipper’s age will now certainly be an issue on voter’s minds.
    Face it, John is old.

    70 is the new 50.

I ain’t worrying about it with McCain, he’s not getting my vote for other reasons.

Funny how two-faced you so-called liberals can be, when political expedience rears its ugly head. Though based on the vile crap you post here, I suspect they’d vote you off the island if they could.

  • carrick

Gotta say… her delivery was disappointing. I’m sure she’ll get better over the next couple of months, but this performance was poor. I thought it made her seem more like a “hockey mom” and less like a national leader.

Her delivery was fine. She wore womens’ clothing, not mens’. She talked as a woman and didn’t try voice tricks to masculinize it, and so forth. It is what was needed.

  • HG

I thank McCain for introducing just the kind of person this country has needed for a long time. I love the message of reform and the experience Sarah brings gives the message even more credibility than McCain could hope for.

  • carrick

    H:

I don’t want this country led by some PTA mom who standing and stumbling around walking in some big shoes that don’t fit.

So not only does H want to discriminate against age, he is also a sexist.

Oh mighty DNC, how thou has fallen!

  • carrick

    This is too funny:

“Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain’s commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush’s failed economic policies — that’s not the change we need, it’s just more of the same,” said Bill Burton, Obama Campaign Spokesman.

“That’s not change that we need.” Heh.

Somebody with more executive experience than Barrack. Slammed because like Barrack, she has no foreign policy experience.

    LMAO.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

but she’s a good conservative, which is even more important to me.

And being a babe doesn’t hurt.

  • carrick

You mean like Saddam Hussein has WMD’s, or 9/11 changed everything? Or that Barack Obama is a “black” separatist?

Both parties use scare tactics. I don’t make any other claim.

The only difference I have seen in the last thirty years is there have been some politicians who have made a real difference given that background, but they mostly haven’t been Democrats, who continue to use scare tactics as their only devise for getting elected, having really no new ideas since the 1960s as far as I can tell….

  • carrick

Ace, if that’s her, it would be 1964, not 1984.

She’s got more executive experience than the other three candidates have combined by the way, so I’m not exactly sure how the “she’s as inexperienced as Obama” card is supposed to be played here.

And she is young enough to have celebrity status, so we can expect to start hearing the moose stories at any point now. ;-)

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

She’s a bit new to the statehouse, but overall it’s a very good pick, probably the best McCain could do.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Millions of angry, upset women will be watching.

If you think that millions of Dem women are ready to switch their vote to R just because the R veep candidate is a woman, I have a bridge to sell you…Oh sorry, that bridge just fell down under bush’s watch…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Can I interest you in an old Maverick?

  • carrick

Good for her! I just wish she would spend the time to help raise it, instead of pursuing her political ambitions. Who do you think is raising that child anyway?

So you’re saying that the women should stay home and raise the children?

Keep talking. I think some of the Hillary supporters are watching.

(Seriously, her husband helps raise the kids. That’s a newfangled thing we do in the 21st century.)

  • Bat One

In a sense, Obama left himself and the Democrats wide open for this selection by not choosing Hillary for his VP. For all the males clinging to their guns in fly-over country, She’s a lifetime NRA member and a devout outdoor sportswoman. For the conservatives with whom McCain has a sometimes uneasy truce, she is fiercely anti-abortion and a responsible fiscal conservative.

And, of course, national experience is a non-issue given Obama’s own lack of any substantive national experience.

McCain’s choice of Palin is way smarter, and far more shrewd, than Obama’s choice of Biden.

  • Hannitized

And, of course, national experience is a non-issue given Obama’s own lack of any substantive national experience.

That plays more into Obama’s hand than McCain’s. I just can’t believe McCain would pick her.

I think we all know he did this to try and steal Hillary’s votes. For it he truly believed what he said about experience, she was the last choice in line for Veep. So, he is either triangulating and making decisions not on principle but political expedience or he is a liar.

I can’t say it is a bad choice right now because who knows how it will work out, but it sure feels like one.

  • carrick

    Lestat:

Is she ready to be President? And if she is, why isn’t Obama?

Palin has two more years of executive experience than Obama, McCain or Biden, so there is that.

Anyway, it’s not Barack’s “youth” that some people find problematic, it’s his lack of a record that prevents people from really knowing how he would really serve as President. I don’t know that McCain’s team is articulating it that way, but when I hear more nuanced discussions about Barack, that’s one thing that does come up on him. And from the left as well as the right.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

    Awesome choice!

  • carrick

    H:

On a side note, McStumble is a good guy, but he is really looking pathetic giving his speech on his Veep pick, even if he reading off his script.

I agree. He is much more at home when he isn’t reading from a script. Obama on the other hand is the master stutterer when he has to freelance his comments.

  • pparets

Hopefully, she will school America on why McCain must be elected!

  • Hannitized

Any attractive woman who can handle a flyrod and a shotgun has definitely got my attention.

She’s got mine too. She is the cutiestest Veep pick I have seen since high school.

This just shows what a bunch of hypocrites the Republicans have been on the leadership issue. If McSame croaks, I don’t want this country led by some PTA mom who standing and stumbling around walking in some big shoes that don’t fit.

  • carrick

    H:

It is not sexist to point out that was a PTA mom.

It is sexist to single that out as if that were her only qualification, but nice spin.

  • sayanything-2407

When Obama wins, it will be because he is remarkable. A remarkable orator, a remarkable worker and a remarkable man.

Ah, another one with a tingly leg?

Obama is a remarkable orator, when he is prepared and not speaking off the cuff.

A remarkable worker? In what sense?

A remarkable man? How? What makes him remarkable?

    Seriously.

You threw this out, I would like to know the answers to them.

  • Hannitized

Hannitized reveals what’s under the skin of every liberal: Bias that suits the occassion.

“Screechy voice”, “PTA mom”…. in other words, a FEMALE!

Hey, I think there are a lot of talented females for the Job. Ferraro. She had a commanding voice. This gal, while having some experience sounds like an average hockey mome (she calls herself a hockey mom btw).

There are other choices McSame could have made, who have great looks and voices.

    Lisa Loeb for instance??

  • http://reasonsnottovoteformccain.blogspot.com/ Morr

RBB, that’s a photoshopped image, though she supposedly did do a Vogue photo shoot.

  • FlyOnTheWall

I kept out of the runup because my opinion doesn’t matter. I happened to read about Palin just recently and was very impressed.

The ‘under investigation’ that RBB mentioned is one of the reasons I liked her, fire that guys 11 year old tasering ass. You didn’t include enough context to get across the nuances, RBB.

  • HG

She said more in her short speech than Obama has his entire campaign!

My thoughts exactly Zsa. I’m extremely impressed.

  • http://reasonsnottovoteformccain.blogspot.com/ Morr

Sarah and Todd Palin have five children: boys Track, 19, and Trig, 4 months, and daughters Bristol, 17, Willow, 13, and Piper, 7. Palin had kept her pregnancy with Trig a secret as she worked in the governor’s mansion, confirming only weeks before the birth that she was going to have a son who she knew would have Down syndrome. She returned to work in April three days after giving birth.

You’ve got to question the judgment of someone who names their boys “Track” and “Trig”. I sort of like the girls’ names though.

Sad that she had to go back to work so quickly after giving birth to her son with down syndrome.

  • carrick

And H, my point wasn’t simply about taking over Hillary voters, but bringing Hillary activists into the McCain campaign working towards a McCain/Palin nomination.

That is a far more dangerous thing to Obama than losing isolated votes.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/homosexuality_is_wrong_-_a_compendium move_zig

    Where is she on Amnesty?

    On national defense?

On Global (cough-cough blowjob! cough) Warming?

    Second Amendment?

  • carrick

Sarah is a full on anti-abortionist.

Yeah. I understand she even allowed a child with downs-syndrome to be born into this world…

Like they are saying over on the Hillary channel, you Dems have been holding Roe-v-Wade over their heads for years as a stick to keep them voting Democrat. This may be the year it stopped working.

Sux for you that your party has no substance, only lies and scare tactics to keep the party faithful in line.

  • pparets

Palin will de-fang Biden in a debate. He can’t afford to even slightly appear to be condescending or vicious. Millions of angry, upset women will be watching.

Palin introduces the shield of ‘gender’ in exactly the same way that Obama uses the shield of race.

    Brilliant move on McCain’s part!

  • Hannitized

Sarah just said “first there is a few people I would like you to meet I want to start with my husband Tod, and Tod and I are actually celebrating our 20th anniversary today….(how cute) and she promised him a little surprise for their anniversary present”.

And he (her husband) is a world champion snow mobile racer….she admires him most in this world. She is telling us all about her family and her son who enlisted.

Awwww…..she’s cute. Don’t know about her leadership…but I am learning quite a bit about what a nifty family she has.

  • http://www.valleydeals.com/cgi-bin/board2/YaBB.pl Kevin

You’ve got to question the judgment of someone who names their boys “Track” and “Trig”. I sort of like the girls’ names though.

  • http://reasonsnottovoteformccain.blogspot.com/ Morr

Is she ready to be President? And if she is, why isn’t Obama?

Good point. Without knowing more about Palin than I’ve learned about her today, I would feel much more comfortable with Obama as president than Palin (in the somewhat plausible event that McCain croaks).

  • robert108

Palin introduces the shield of ‘gender’ in exactly the same way that Obama uses the shield of race.

    Brilliant move on McCain’s part!

All true. I would have preferred that he would have run on strong conservative principles instead of using identity politics, but she’s a good conservative, which is even more important to me.

  • Gary Gulrud

    Oh, oh. Moral gut check.

Do you suppose I would be able to keep a straight face telling everyone that as I swore, I did not vote for either O’Messiah or the Mav and do…well yanno, the flesh is weak.

YEAH! Moose-hunter, mother of five (including a soldier), pro-life (precious little Down’s Syndrome baby), Governor, not another Senator. Hillary must be fit to be tied and the Temple of Barack is crumbling as we speak!

  • Hannitized

So not only does H want to discriminate against age, he is also a sexist.

She was a PTA mom, before she was mayor. That was her credential for taking on that job.

And Hillary was a much smarter choice for Veep than Sarah, because she had more experience. Hell, even Fox said she lacked foreign policy experience.

It is not sexist to point out that was a PTA mom. Her voice is screechy and doesn’t come across a leader, just a really good PTA mom. Sorry that’s my opinion.

  • Glenn M. Cassel AMH1(AW) US Na

I wonder what ol hillary is thinking right now.@#*#@ or something like that.

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

She said more in her short speech than Obama has his entire campaign! She obviously has more substance and more experience than Obama could ever HOPE for.

  • Hannitized

    Provide your link.

What link? A link that proves she has no foreign policy experience or the link that proves McCain was criticizing Obama for lacking foreign policy experience?

Do you really need it? You really don’t know?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Flipper’s age will now certainly be an issue on voter’s minds.
    Face it, John is old.

3 years ago Palin was the mayor of Wasilla (pop. 5469).

Is she a good choice for second in line for Commander and Chief?

Flipper just pulled the plug on the experience card.

A governor under investigation is his veep choice?

McCain always did have a soft spot for beauty queens.

  • Hannitized

Sarah just said some interesting things:

“It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary Clinton left 18,000,000.00 cracks in the hightest hardest glass ceiling in America, but it turns out that women of America aren’t finished yet and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all”

Just as I said, a cheap triangulated decision to steal the election by betraying principle.

    Then she finished with:

“I thank you and “I” God bless you, I say, and God bless America “.

Oh, now they have their Messiah who can personally bestow upon me the blessings of God. She is the one!

  • FlyOnTheWall

As a Conservative/Republican/Libertarian amorphous mass, I now find some reason to vote FOR the McCain ticket. Adding a successful, strong conservative makes this palateable.

Obviously, Hawk, RBB and Hannitized will not change but I’m curious how this affects others who were on the fence or just considered McCain too much a drag on the Repub ticket. Will this change any minds from the conservatives and independants.

  • pparets

    ANWR, baby, ANWR!!!

  • Hannitized

    HG says:

More BS from H. What principle is betrayed by being the first woman to be VP?

McSame was lamenting about the lack of foreign policy experience Obama had and then picks a Veep with zero.

    THAT principle.

    Carrick says:

If McCain’s people are slick about it, they can take over a lot of the pro-Hillary activists en masse.

Which proves my point that this is really more about trying to steel Hillary votes than it is picking a Veep who is best suited for the job.

Is anyone really convincing themselves otherwise???

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

WOW, THIS JUST WON THE ELECTION FOR McCAIN! a 90% approval rating as the Alaska Governor

  • FlyOnTheWall

Hey, I think there are a lot of talented females for the Job. Ferraro. She had a commanding voice.

Hannitized, I admit Obama gives great voice but that’s really not the top two on my ‘Presidential List.’ I like Lisa Loebe and Obama could rightly have added her and gotten more of a bump than he did with Biden.

I think most are shocked with you that your complaints are 1) her voice and 2) he chose a woman. Stuff that barely registers to me when I look over potential leaders.

Let’s face it. Leaders have to be able to influence people and lead them. She might have experience, but she might not have leadership qualities. That is an important consideration.

  • Hannitized

    Fly,

Those aren’t complaints, those are jabs.

Did you enjoy being transport for the real fighters?

  • FlyOnTheWall

McSame was lamenting about the lack of foreign policy experience Obama had and then picks a Veep with zero.

I can comment but the question is odd to me. You could argue that McLame (my preference because he’s not the same as Bush) and Biden have a kind of foreign policy experience. However, I’m not really sure it’s applicable and I’m more interested in their stance.

I also care less about the experience of the VP on the assumption it fills gaps in the Pres.

Plus, she did it, I understand, without a teleprompter! Heh.

  • HG

the link that proves McCain was criticizing Obama for lacking foreign policy experience?

Yeah, that one. I heard a lot about his empty resume and therefore lack of experience. I heard a lot less about his lack of foreign policy experience, although it is worth noting. I don’t deny Sarah will have to answer for this as well, just that after hearing over the past few minutes her resume, Obama still is outdone on the experience issue.

  • pparets

Gotta say, her delivery was disappointing.

More disappointing than when Obama introduced Biden as the “next president of the United Sates”?

she said that “if Obama was a white man, he wouldn’t even be considered for President”. She was right. – Robert

  • robert108

Let’s face it. Leaders have to be able to influence people and lead them. She might have experience, but she might not have leadership qualities. That is an important consideration.

Style over substance; typical leftie. She has executive experience, Obambi doesn’t; she’s a real American, Obambi’s a black separatist/Marxist subversive.

Obambi loses on the substance, hands down. I also think it’s funny that you equate the requirments for VP with those of President. Not accurate.

  • HG

Did I mention that Biden’s son is deploying to Iraq? Did you all hear him say that as the father of a soldier, he wants Obama as his Commander-in-Chief?

No, this is the first I heard of it. But why is Biden allowing his son to join something his running mate says is all wrong?

    H,

All republican votes cast by women for McCain/Palin will be because they support the candidates. It is some of the democratic voters who will vote for McCain in protest and because a woman is on the ticket.

  • Hannitized

A question I have is how many Republicans think that women are going to vote for Sarah, because she is one? I don’t think people vote for minorities, because they are minorities…that is PP’s job. I think people vote on who can make differences on their interests.

She adds nothing to McCain’s ticket other than trying to steal HIllary’s female votes. That notion is beyond simple-minded.

  • robert108

pp: This is the first real move McCain has made in the right direction; let’s hope he makes a lot more of them.

  • pparets

Republicans think that women – and men – will vote for principle, experience, character, and against sexism and the race-card.

  • robert108

No leftie ahould be trusted with foreign policy anyway. We don’t need “experience” in bowing down to the terrorists. We already got the results of leftie foreign policy with Clinton.
A useless war(Kosovo, and we’re still there), major terrorist attacks against us(WTC ’93, etc) and finally 9/11, whose foundation was laid during the Clinton administration, and the growth of AQ. I don’t want that kind of “experience” in the White House. Not to mention Carter losing Iran and the Panama Canal.

  • Hannitized

I had imagined that McCain was going to pick some military commander or someone with lots, and lots of experience. I was worried.

I am happy with who he picked. My opinion is he just threw the election away.

By betting that women vote for women and not principle, he has insulted the voters he was trying to sway over.

Sarah was a weak, weak choice for VP. She may have experience, but he could have done so much better.

    I for one am grateful.

  • robert108

Gotta say… her delivery was disappointing. I’m sure she’ll get better over the next couple of months, but this performance was poor. I thought it made her seem more like a “hockey mom” and less like a national leader.

Yes, she’s a real person, not a slick huckster. That’s a positive, along with the substance of her message. Only lefties think style trumps substance.

McSame was lamenting about the lack of foreign policy experience Obama had and then picks a Veep with zero.

    H,

Overlooking Obama’s complete lack of any sort of substantive experience for a moment, could you please detail the foreign policy experience of his chosen running mate.

I understand that Biden has spent a lot of time sitting on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but could you perhaps point to something he’s actually accomplished in that field?

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

It would be interesting to know how many first time donations are coming in to the McCain campaign because of Sarah Palin?

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

She is exactly what the Republican Party has needed for a long time. She is young and we need young new faces on the horizon. I am extremely impressed and pleased with his choice! There is the Hope and Change that I have been looking for.

  • Hannitized

Listening to baseball games on the radio for 20 years doesn’t qualify one to coach or manage a team.

You don;t manage teams when dealing with foreign leaders, you negotiate with them.

This is the major problems with Republicans vs. Democrats. We prefer to lead by the power of our example not the example of our power.

Listening to baseball games for 20 years would give you the experience to know more than most and to understand everything that is happening while it is being discussed, instead of trying to figure it out afterwards.

Geraldine Ferraro could have made it to the top had she not been a Democrat. I’ll be interested to see what Donna Brazille and Susan Estrich, both prominent and knowledgeable Democrats, have to say in a few weeks.

They will say what we already know. That she may be experienced and possibly talented, but is on the wrong side of the economic plan, the right to choose and she stands with McSame on virtually every stance.

For the same reasons you think Ferraro didn’t make it to the top is the reason why Sarah won’t get Hillary votes.

  • Hannitized

    HG says:

It is some of the democratic voters who will vote for McCain in protest and because a woman is on the ticket.

So you do think women will vote for women, because they are women. Wow!

No wonder people on your side like to play the race card so much.

    examples:

Style over substance; typical leftie. She has executive experience, Obambi doesn’t; she’s a real American, Obambi’s a black- Robert

if Obama was a white man, he wouldn’t even be considered for President. – Robert

I think you are wrong by the way. I think women really vote on the right to choose vote. Sarah is a full on anti-abortionist.

  • robert108

If you have to lie to make a point, doesn’t that tell you something?

Sarah is a full on anti-abortionist.

Thank God! She doesn’t support the Dem abortion holocaust.

  • pparets

108: I am in full agreement with that!

  • Bat One

If your point is to argue that Biden may have experience but accomplished nothing you have answered your own question.

No, sir! My point is that sitting on a Senate Committee isn’t a particularly substantive experience to begin with. Listening to baseball games on the radio for 20 years doesn’t qualify one to coach or manage a team.

Who knows what this Veep pick will do when she is in office?

Depends. If McCain and the Republicans treat her as talented protege in those areas where she is less experienced, and take advantage of her experiences and talents in other public policy areas, she could conceivably tip her hat rhetorically at Hillary while coming the first woman elected President of the US. If she proves to be not up to the challenge then she won’t. Geraldine Ferraro could have made it to the top had she not been a Democrat. I’ll be interested to see what Donna Brazille and Susan Estrich, both prominent and knowledgeable Democrats, have to say in a few weeks.

  • robert108

Who knows what this Veep pick will do when she is in office?–

She will stand strong for the Constitution and Founding Principles of the United States; she’s a conservative.

  • robert108

    I for one am grateful.

Considering the source, that’s a real ringing endorsement!

  • robert108

Two: Lefties respect only one thing: ideological conformity. They claim to support their groups, but if an individual from one of those groups has even one non-Marxist idea(like Joe Lieberman), they get purged and villified. The racist smears against Clarence Thomas and Condoleeza Rice show their true colors. Only lockstep adherence to their ideology is OK with them.

  • Hawk

In a sense, Obama left himself and the Democrats wide open for this selection by not choosing Hillary for his VP. For all the males clinging to their guns in fly-over country, She’s a lifetime NRA member and a devout outdoor sportswoman. For the conservatives with whom McCain has a sometimes uneasy truce, she is fiercely anti-abortion and a responsible fiscal conservative.

Are you saying that he would not have picked her if Hillary would have been chosen?

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

She is the ONLY one of the Four who have ANY executive experience.

  • HG

    Rbb,

Palin is responsible for cleaning house in Alaska including some republicans. She has taken on corruption in Alaska and boasts and 80% approval rating for doing so. As much as you love to post about corrupt politicians, especially republicans, you ought to love Palin, she is a true reformer.

  • 2Hotel9

Good googly moogly!! It took zero(0) amount of time for the usual leftards to start screeching. The swiftness with which sanni and boob poopooed on her simply because she is a woman was entirely expected. That reporters in the leftard media have as swiftly complimented her on her weight of experience, both in the private sector and public, is a bit more shocking. No wonder the Democrat Party gave such shabby treatment to certain reporters this week. Now all can see why.

This makes the vice presidential debates actually interesting.

I would expect Biden to look more prepared. He won’t be awed by the millions of people watching and he is charismatic and funny. However, he may put his foot in his mouth.

Palin may be awed by the stage. She will also have expectations much higher. Biden doesn’t have to prove his bona fides. Palin does. If she doesn’t look presidential, than this was a bad choice.

More of the same from you and McCain…..we need a change of thinking in the White House.

  • robert108

Unlike you, I am willing to admit where I may say things wrong.

No, you don’t; you attributed a Geraldine Ferraro quote to me, and then tried to rationalize it. If you apologized for all your lies, you would have no time to post your bullshit.

  • Mary

My husband and I are finally excited about the election. Sarah Palin is a very smart choice and will have a positive impact on every front of the campaign.

  • robert108

And that is why they attacked us on 9/11 and why they continue to plan to kill us.

Wrong and wrong. The Islamofascists are sworn to kill or subjugate all the infidels, and that means everyone else in the world. That’s the reason they want to kill us; it’s in their scripture. They attacked us on 9/11 because they rightly saw Clinton as a “weak horse”(to quote OBL after Somalia) and thought all US Presidents would be as weak.

You just keep spouting the lying leftie appeaser talking points.

They’re just like wild animals; if they perceive weakness, they attack; if they perceive strength, they run away, fearing death. Obambi oozes weakness. You do the math.

A glib statement to be sure, but totally lacking in any sort of practical application and hopelessly – dangerously – naive as well.

Yet, because of our example we have Russia invading Georgia and we wonder why? We have had N. Korea rush towards being a Nuclear power since Bush’s pet war and we wonder why? The Republicans believe Iran is racing to be a Nuclear power and we wonder why?

Because they know if you have Nukes, you have power and you can do shit others cant. Yet if we hadn’t invaded Iraq for the reasons we claimed, we could actually have a leg to stand on to criticize Russia.

Now both Iran and DKRP feel they can flex their muscles with the power they are trying to gain.

That may be a fine sentiment when addressing the local Unitarians for UNICEF luncheon, but it is also the sort of stupid shit that gets people killed when confronted by a serious threat… whether its a mugging on the street or an Islamist bomber.

In all honesty, I will admit that Sarah gives the race a spark and makes it a bit interesting. The bottom line? Well, it is that she has a lot of work ahead of her.

Her first impression for her critics is that she came across as a Hockey/Soccer mom…despite her record. For her fans, she came across as an exciting possibility and might have mobilized a lot of women who were independents and/or conservatives who were unmoved by McCain.

He needed to increase the women vote of the republicans and with Sara as a pick he has increased the interest.

I think Sarah has a long way to go personally. She has got a lot to prove. When I say she was a weak choice I mean that that she does not come across as a potential president or leader. She may have accomplished things in Alaska, but at the end of the day do you REALLY want her to lead our country?

    Proof’s

rbb: Why are you Liberals threatened by powerful women?

Which Liberals are you referring to? Millions wanted to put a powerful female Democrat in first place not second. How come not a single female Republican was listed for the primaries?
I guess that means that the all-male Primary contenders Paul, Huckabee, Giuliani, Thompson, Duncan Hunter, etc., and of course Mitt Romney, who must have been regarded by Conservatives to be among the best able to lead our country, were considered not only better than any Liberal female (check out the anti-Hillary campaigns) but of any female PERIOD.

How come the Right now finds that a woman, Gov. Palin, is better qualified to be veep and prez than any of the above guys, among many other males?
If McCain should suffer a stroke (God forbid), do you think she is really capable of running our country? Or does that matter? Are Conservatives just applying their Standard Operating Procedure and saying “let’s win in November first and then see what happens?” Like they did in Iraq: “Let’s invade first and see what happens.”

    A. The DNC backhands women and then dangles Roe v. Wade over their head… not working!

    Q. Don’t TRUE Dems vote Dem ?
    A. TRUE Americans don’t belong to racist churches for 20 years. I will not reward this!

Q for DNC men: Why don’t these women get back in the kitchen and cook us up some good vittles? And WHERE THE HELL IS THAT COLD BEER???

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

What was it that Michelle Obama said about Hillary putting cracks in the “glass ceiling”? Hell! Let’s bust the thing wide open with the first Woman Vice President!

Then in four to eight years, let Hillary run against Vice President Palin!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

I saw the Photo Op of her firing an assault rifle. Obviously her first time. She doesn’t know how to hold it.

And yet, she didn’t wet her pants and run screaming from the room as Obama or Biden would have! Heh.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Obama and Biden are believable as leaders

Yes. They play one on TV! Heh.
On the other hand, Sarah Palin has years of executive experience neither of the boys in the Democrat band have!

  • Travis

Sarah, please do not even think of resigning. As a family, together we too went through a young unwed daughter’s pregnancy, in love, we stood by her without qualms or regrets.

Wife and I are voting republican for one reason only this election, (had given up on McCain) because we believe in you. So please, we have waited too long for you, do not forsake America in our time of need.

  • Mickey

Bill Clinton is jealous right now.

    And Barry says:

“NO HILLARY, NO WAY, NO HOW”!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Where is she on … (the)Second Amendment?

Move_Zig: Sorry it took me so long to get back to your question! (Work is the curse of the drinking man!)
Sarah Palin is, like yours truly, a Life Member of the NRA.
I therefore suspect you will be pleasantly surprised at her support for the Second (as well as the other nine) Amendment!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

When I think about the comparison between Palin and Biden, that line from Will Smith in Men in Black comes to mind, about his new ride not being your “old, tired busted” ride!
    Heh.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Flipper’s age will now certainly be an issue on voter’s minds. Face it, John is old.
3 years ago Palin was the mayor of Wasilla (pop. 5469).
Is she a good choice for second in line for Commander and Chief?

Turn that around dwarf. Palin has a thicker résumé and better track record than O’Blurry. And Biden is OLD. Is he a good choice for second in line for Commander-in-Chief?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

rbb: In case you haven’t noticed, Ms. Palin has qualities that recommend her far beyond her home state!

  • Lestat

I saw the Photo Op of her firing an assault rifle. Obviously her first time. She doesn’t know how to hold it.

  • HG

    What were you saying again???

It has been said so many times it is hardly worth repeating. You and your ilk can’t see the forest for the trees when it comes to politics and policy, especially foreign policy.

  • Lestat

Yes; she said that if Obama was a white man, he wouldn’t even be considered for President. She was right.

When has being a black man ever been beneficial when running for national office?

When Obama wins, it will be because he is remarkable. A remarkable orator, a remarkable worker and a remarkable man.

  • carrick

    My favorite quote:

“‘[The Democrats] brushed off the women base like dirt. and the GOP pick them up.’”

The Hillary people certainly like her.

I’m sure H thinks they should go back to sweeping the kitchen and making sure that his beer stays cold.

  • Hannitized

Possibly the most revealing statement H has ever made.

It was referencing the word child PP.

What you are doing doesn’t phase me in the least. You keep trying to lash out at me. I don’t care what you try to do because I know you are just acting out in desperation and retaliation. That is ok, you are what you are.

I am typing fast, as demonstrated by all my typos, and don’t have the time to use the exact wording I should PP.

Unlike you, I am willing to admit where I may say things wrong. Why do you still defend your position that minorities will vote for Obama, because he is one?

You insult the intellect of all minorities who would vote for him because they believe his ideas represent their interests.

  • HG

the best I got is that she is more of McSame

That horse is dead, your party killed it. But hey, keep up the good work, it’s all you got.

Of the republican candidates which would you have not employed this Bush’s 3rd term hoax on? You tried it with McCain and now you’re trying it with Palin.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Every time some Dem points to Palin’s inexperience at the bottom of the ticket, it points out the inexperience at the top of the Dem ticket.

One of the talking points is “a heartbeat away from the Presidency”. God forbid, but there’s less than a heartbeat separating us from that inexperience should Obama’s empty suit hang in the Oval Office!

    The Democrat “band”?

Every time Poof opens his mouth, I smile. He just keep popping out the hits. Nobody is as good as making non points or irrelevant statements as Poofy.

I had imagined that McCain was going to pick some military commander or someone with lots, and lots of experience. I was worried.

Thanks for admitting your guy ‘Stinks on ice’

  • Jerry

    Bottom Line……..
This is going to put a “lot” of Women on board.
    Severely limits Obama’s “Romance” factor..

If you have a wife, girlfriend, or girl friends, you should know what I’m saying here..

  • carrick

That would be “steal Hillary votes”, which she will, and yes, she is an excellent choice for the job. I wish I could say the same thing about the person who selected her.

  • 2Hotel9

Yes, boob, she won. We know that already.

Fly, you can say that again!!

  • HG

Look at Sparkie Go! Run with that crap boy.

Whats with the pic Sparkie, afraid of a good thing?

  • Puzzlefeet

Yep, she was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. More of McSame.

  • robert108

Bat: true enough; I just remember the Clintons taking a poll to see where they should take their vacation. Not exactly leadership, is it?

  • Bat One

Just a side note to everyone:

In all the years I’ve been posting here at SAB, I don’t think I have ever seen a thread fill up so quickly as this one. I took an hour and a half off to take my Dad to lunch and when I got back to my desk we were over 130 comments already.

If this is any indication, McCain’s choice of Palin is nothing less than inspired.

  • pparets

    Zsa Zsa… I agree 100%!!

  • robert108

Dems don’t lead; they follow. They can’t break wind without taking a poll first. Pathetic.

  • 2Hotel9

B1, this is definitely the fastest thread I have seen, possibly ever, anywhere. And that includes Steeler threads.

  • robert108

As far as her foreign policy experience is concerned, the Constitution and the Founding Principles are good for both foreign and domestic policy.

  • robert108

Hopefully she can school him on what a conservative really is.

  • Bat One

This is the major problems with Republicans vs. Democrats. We prefer to lead by the power of our example not the example of our power.

A glib statement to be sure, but totally lacking in any sort of practical application and hopelessly – dangerously – naive as well. That may be a fine sentiment when addressing the local Unitarians for UNICEF luncheon, but it is also the sort of stupid shit that gets people killed when confronted by a serious threat… whether its a mugging on the street or an Islamist bomber.

…That she may be experienced and possibly talented, but is on the wrong side of the economic plan, the right to choose and she stands with McSame on virtually every stance.

Gee… does this mean you are finally prepared to discuss the two competing sets of economic and tax policy proposals? You’ve been ill-at-ease and timorous every time I’ve brought up the subject in the past. Are you sure you want to try and defend raising taxes?

  • Onslaught

I just wish she would spend the time to help raise it

    This sounds like projection.

  • robert108

You don;t manage teams when dealing with foreign leaders, you negotiate with them.

That’s what lefties do; real Americans use our power to our advantage. Why give up the advantage we’ve worked for? That’s just insane. The fact the dictators and slaveowners of the UN hate us is evidence that we are doing the right thing.
    Lefties are pussies.

  • Onslaught

Sarah is a full on anti-abortionist.[/quote

...and you're a full on failed abortion.]

  • robert108

You endorsed the statement, that is the same as saying it. No matter how hard you spin, you owned the statement.

What she said was right, so of course I endorse it; I just didn’t say it, so you lied about that.
You endorsed her as a strong voice, so you own everything she says, by your own logic. Take responsibility for your bullshit, boy!

  • pparets

Hannitized, refering to the Palin’s DS baby..

    it

Possibly the most revealing statement H has ever made.

  • Hannitized

    PP,

Are you really so unhinged as to consider the words “she” and “her”, as sexist? Really?

  • pparets

    I don’t think…

    …that’s pp’s job.

    Truer words were never spoken!

[a little cherry-pick fun for humorless Hawaiians.]

  • http://www.willisms.com/ Zsa Zsa

I loved her speech! She is the boost that the Republican Party has been waiting for.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Yes, I read a wise man once said that.
    Time will tell.

  • HG

McSame was lamenting about the lack of foreign policy experience Obama had and then picks a Veep with zero.

    Provide your link.

The experience card will play out. Exactly how remains to be seen. Historically consevatives kick but on foreign policy, and liberals have been weak.

  • robert108

The lefties are squealing already. Character assassination is all they have. The facts are not on their side.

  • Hannitized

Bat, you just answered your own question.

You ask me to cite experience, then talk about results? If your point is to argue that Biden may have experience but accomplished nothing you have answered your own question.

Who knows what this Veep pick will do when she is in office?

  • robert108

Here’s the difference: A conservative runs on conservative principles, not their race/gender. For a Dem, race/gender is the entire reason for voting for them.

    Big difference.

According to Obama, voting for a black man will “heal the country”. Pure race-based bullshit!

  • pparets

rbb: Or did that bridge fall down under Kennedy?

  • HG

She was a PTA mom, before she was mayor.

Not exactly H. She was a PTA member, then city councilwoman, then mayor, then governor. Get it?

  • robert108

One thing’s for sure: Sarah Palin is making leftie heads explode! You go, girl!

  • pparets

    Hannitized is already sweating…..

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
She sure has no problem being a celebrity.

  • Lestat

    I love this choice.

How can you argue experience when you are the oldest candidate ever and you choose a first term small state governor as your running mate?

Is she ready to be President? And if she is, why isn’t Obama?

  • HG

Sarah is a perfect fit for McCain’s campaign promises regarding reforming Washington. So much for Bush’s third term.

  • HG

What a great choice. This gives me a lot more confidence in McCain’s judgment. BHO should just quit now. It’s over.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

Morr, I was going to use the pic you just changed your avatar to…she was/is quite the looker, no doubt about that.

  • carrick

    H:

A link that proves she has no foreign policy experience

Actually, as gov of AK she does have foreign policy experience at the administrative level.

In fact she’s the only of the four that has any experience whatsoever in that arena.

So good luck on that like, noob.

  • robert108

Does that sound like a plan?

Like I said before, I hope she schools him on being conservative. We’ll see. If this pick is just political maneuvering on his part, not so good, but if he is really ready to go in a conservative direction(for real), I might reconsider. Depends on the reality.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/sparkiearbuckle sayanything-81

    Rob
I wonder if her husband will let her run? Whaddya think?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/sparkiearbuckle sayanything-81

A suburban mother and PTA member who described her fisherman husband as a proud union member

Palin said the “most disturbing” was a phone call Frank Bailey, the governor’s director of boards and commissions, made to trooper Lt. Rodney Dial in February. The Public Safety Department recorded the call, as it does routinely.

Palin, who said she’d only just learned of the call, released a recorded copy of it to the press on Wednesday. In it, Bailey clearly pressures the lieutenant.

    Union thug/GOP princess. Uh huh.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Carrick, that’s her. Palin was a beauty queen in the 1980′s along with my sister.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/sparkiearbuckle sayanything-81

    Dern. She’s a looker.
