It’s Easy To Be The Opposition; It’s Hard To Be The Leader

A bit of wisdom - from George Orwell who was writing about Rudyard Kipling - about leaders and their opposition.

“The ruling power is always faced with the question, ‘In such and such circumstances, what would you do?’, whereas the opposition is not obliged to take responsibility or make any real decisions.”

Something to keep in mind as you hear Democrats rip Republican leadership in the coming campaign season.

My understanding is that what some phone companies did in sharing information with the government was against the law.  So, the telcons that violated the las are asking for immunity.  The argument is that unless we give the telecons immunity now, they won’t cooperate with the government, i.e., won’t be willing to break, the law in the future.  Is this what we want?  Why is immunity for corporations in the national interest but amnesty for undocumented workers the slippery slope to moral catastrophe?

If you have to ask yourself that, you are in a deep morass of liberal dimthink.
