Is There A Sinister Racial Subtext To Obama’s Campaign Advertising?

We’ve been down this rather absurd path before, but Politico analyzes the latest accusations.

My reaction?  I think the accusations are pretty bogus, and have a lot more to do with white liberal guilt than anything else.  I’m not sure most liberals can fathom a white Republican male criticizing a black Democrat without being racist, so when McCain does it they think it’s racism even if they can’t quite put their finger on why it’s racism.

Which is why they have to invent subtexts and latch on to rather thin conspiracy theories about subliminal messages.  Because they just can’t understand that many people, including the much-maligned white conservative male demographic, oppose Obama because they think he’s wrong about a multitude of issues and not because he’s black.
