Is Bush’s Next Move To Surge Troops Into Afghanistan?

Given the success we’ve seen with the surge in Iraq the real question is why wouldn’t we surge troops into Afghanistan?

And talk about taking the wind out of Democrat sails.  Prompted by Barack Obama, who desperately needs to get out from underneath the Iraq issue, the Democrats have shifted their foreign policy away from bemoaning non-existent failure in Iraq to bemoaning the slow progress in Afghanistan.  But if we surge troops into Afghanistan, and if we see the same level of success there as we’ve seen in Iraq, liberals up to and including their about-to-be-nominated messiah are once again going to look like buffoons.

And there’s only so much buffoonery there friends in the media can cover for.

Don’t know about a “surge”, but I would agree with a transfer of more hardened troops into the region, for several reasons, the Canadians have been carrying that load for quite a while and deserve a break, the rest of NATO has proven itself to be incapable of standing up for itself, much less another nation. They’ve performed like they’re in a Eurosexual slap fest.

IMHOP what’s happening in Afghanistan / Pakistan now could be dealt with reasonably quickly with a transfer of hardened troops.

At least when George Bush was reading My Pet Goat, he genuinely had no idea Manhattan was being terrorized. And it wasn’t by his own plane.

Taliban insurgents killed nine US troops when they attempted to overrun an American base as bloody fighting broke out in several parts of Afghanistan today.

Sure.. whats another 4,000 give or take… as long as my kids don’t have to go.

You’re here because you know something. What you know, you can’t explain. But you feel it. You felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. Like a splinter in your mind—driving you mad.

yeah, buzz, you’re a real patriot.  Anyway your ‘kids’ will be adults when and if they decide to join the military and you won’t be able to do squat about it.  Put that in your tractor and inhale it!!!

One of the most important talents for success in politics is the ability to make utter nonsense sound not only plausible but inspiring. Barack Obama has that talent. We will be lucky if we escape the catastrophes into which other countries have been led by leaders with that same charismatic talent.

Hmmm…

The largest Sunni faction is not part of the government.

The Kurds have walked away from the government.

Their is no oil law, which is essential to the long term stability of the Iraqi state.

What was the stated goal of the escalation?

Lestat on July 16, 2008 at 09:25 pm

As regards a surge in Afghanistan, probably not.

The logistics just aren’t there to support a larger force than is currently in place.

Buz,

Your children are not at risk; McNamara’s 10,000 program is long since ended.

Lestupid,

The surge was intended to (at minimum) degrade the hostiles such that the Iraqi government would have breathing room.  That goal has been greatly exceeded.  As regards political progress, the Iraqi Parliament got a lot more done over the last year than the Democrats in Congress did.

My youngest “kid” is 18 and I have made sure they believe the same way that I do.  Not one of them is going to die for oil.

Way to move the goal posts.  First it was “nothing can be done unless they have security”.  Now that the surge was a huge success and security has been restored the goal has been moved to a less tangible one.  Your kind will never admit that the Iraq War is over. We won. Which means the Iraqi people won.

Its expensive, people die, we are short on troops, etc.

You guys only take about how wonderful war is. And encourage us to use it all the time. Grow up. Your party is fucked from that. Oh well, keep driving em into the ground. What’s a little more wasted money?

Bush has, after all, put us into debt for at least the next 100 years. A feat that a democrat could hardly pull off.

SO stop running your mouths, idiots. Check the wallet before you start drinking blood and calling for more war.

Iraq will get worse if we don’t leave too. Its not like their is a fixed number of terrorists who we will eventually get.

We are their #1 recruiting ploy. Dumbasses.

In other words, you raised a parroting idiot.

Congratulations.

Sparkie Arbuckle spits out, Bush has, after all, put us into debt for at least the next 100 years.

Nevermind the fact that WW2 put this country much further into debt than this relatively puny war.

Sparkie can see far into the future and that’s that. And if you don’t agree with this backwards character, you’re just some idiot blood drinker or something. Good analysis Sparkie. You working for the Democrats now?

Iraq will get worse if we don’t leave too. Its not like their [sic] is a fixed number of terrorists who we will eventually get.

This sounds exactly like what Obama said before he voted against the surge which has proven to be so successful.

Buz,

As previously mentioned, since Project 100,000 is no longer in effect, your offspring were never in ANY danger of being inducted into the Armed Forces.

sparkless-arse-fuckin-buckle brings his feces drenched cranial contents to bear on the Surge and Iraq, with predictable results:

Its expensive, people die, we are short on troops, etc.

People die all the time, sparkless-arse-fuckin-buckle.  I’ve seen the argument made, and tend to agree with it, that Saddam Hussein was killing more of his own people per year on average than have died per year as a result of the war and following insurgency.

As regards troops, that’s mostly an issue of the Congress not wanting to pay the cost of recruiting and training up more.  The Armed Forces have met or exceeded their recruiting and retention goals in all but one or two quarters in the period since 9-11, and have never missed their annual goals in terms of end strength.

You guys only take about how wonderful war is. And encourage us to use it all the time. Grow up. Your party is fucked from that. Oh well, keep driving em into the ground. What’s a little more wasted money?

Wonderfull?  Show me ONE post or comment here from our regular dexter members describing any war as “wonderfull.”

Nor have we encouraged it’s use “all the time.” We have seen universal calls for “negotiaion” and “just getting along” from the sinister side here.  They are part of the ever familiar trend of the sinister side, who note “That didn’t work” and then demand “Let’s try it some more.”

War has accomplished more in seven years than has diplomacy over the last 30 years when it comes to radical islamic fundamentalism and international terrorism.  The fact that you will not acknowledge this says volumes about you and your respect for the facts in evidence.

Bush has, after all, put us into debt for at least the next 100 years. A feat that a democrat could hardly pull off.

Rubbish.  Less has been spent on the wars since 9-11 than has been spent on social programs during the same period.

SO stop running your mouths, idiots. Check the wallet before you start drinking blood and calling for more war.

So stop running your defeatest mouth, dumbfuck.  Consider the best interests of your nation and civilization before you start eating and spewing shit and insisting the rest of us emulate your disgusting habits.

Iraq will get worse if we don’t leave too. Its not like their is a fixed number of terrorists who we will eventually get.

Iraq will continue to experience ups and downs.  The one sure way of causing the downs to be disasterous is to pull our forces out before the situation is well stablilized, which just so happens to be the brain dead policy you and a certain brain dead candidate embrace.

We are their #1 recruiting ploy. Dumbasses.

Martyrdom is their #1 recruiting ploy, dipshit.
