Is Heidi Heitkamp Running Out Of Money?

The Rick Berg campaign sent out the email below sent out by the Council for a Livable World on behalf of Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp. CLW is a far-left, anti-nuclear group that Heitkamp has been soliciting campaign funds from all cycle. Berg has hit Heitkamp on it hard (Republican sources tell me they think it’s a better issue for them than Obamacare), but that hasn’t stopped her from continuing to go back to CLW for more money.

And the Republicans are probably right about this being a great issue for them. Shortly after Berg started hitting the issue a Forum Communications poll showed him dominating Heitkamp in Ward County, home of the Minot Air Force Base which, in turn, is home to much of the US nuclear mission in the state. Berg had a 61 to 26% lead over Heitkamp in the county, by far his largest margin in the entire state.

That got me wondering, just how hard up is Heitkamp for money that she’s going back to such a controversial source for more money? So I went back and took a look at my email inbox, and I counted no fewer than 19 email fundraising pitches sent out directly from the Heitkamp campaign since October 1st. That’s an average of one email begging for contributions every 1.5 days.

After a couple of weeks of bad polling for the Heitkamp campaign, who was already at a major fundraising advantage to Berg who has dominated them in fundraising both overall and among North Dakotans, may be having serious revenue problems.
