Interview: Palin to Stump for Conservative Democrats – Addresses all the Unanswered Questions

Or so says the Washington Times. You can find the full article at the LINK, but the important details are as follows:
-Palin views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and “energy independence.”.
-She “will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation”.
She left the door open for a future presidential bid.
Shot down speculation among Republicans that she might challenge incumbent Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski for the party’s nomination to the Senate.
She blames her resignation as governor on the nasty, hardball tactics that last year’s presidential campaign brought to her state.
Mrs. Palin said the state needs a new ethics policy after another ethics complaint was filed against her.
Well folks, there we have it. Those are answers directly from Sarah Palin, in an interview with the Washington Times. I’ll add my two cents later, but I felt this warranted a quick post.
A penny for your collective thoughts?

Well I have to say. I don’t’ have a thing bad to say about Mrs. Palin… I think she did a fantastic job as Governor of Alaska and her nomination for vice president. I was born and raised in Alaska and I can tell anybody that has never spent any time there, they would not survive. Alaska is a rugged place. I would say it take a very tough and rugged person to govern in. Also I am ashamed of the democrats for the total disrespectful smear campaign that they perpetrated on Sara Palin, un ethically using the very ethics laws that are suppose to protect citizens of Alaska to defame their Governor. The Shame!!! Personally I hope Sara Palin runs for President of the United States and wins…

    You said nothing RBB.

RBB just voted “Present”. Way to go, RBB! You earned your pay!

Nothing new here, right? Palin has values, she knows what she wants. She certainly knows that big government leads to a lot of abuse and corruption, small government is tight and on the job.

I think it’s nice of her to stretch an olive branch to “all affiliations”, but let’s not kid ourselves: Democrats are not about to come to her. Never happen.

Independants who like strong values might.

True Reagan Republicans should gravitate to her (if they haven’t already).

I like Sarah Palin a lot. I mean a lot, even if I do not agree with her stance on abortion. That’s my problem. I like her a lot, I’d put my trust in her hand any given day.

Best wishes on her futur projects.

TAKE YOUR COLLECTIVISM OUT OF HERE. We’ll have none of it.

  • FlyOnTheWall

TAKE YOUR COLLECTIVISM OUT OF HERE.

We like collective thought and dialogue. We just don’t like being forced to toe the party line by the few in power, usually a prerequisite of ‘collectivism’ as envisioned now.

Democrats are not about to come to her. Never happen.

I don’t trust the republican party as far as I can comfortably spit a rat. (Though I trust them more than the democrats.) She’ll attract a few, maybe more than a few as Obama-Reid-Pelosi become glaringly less popular.

I’m with Palin. I’d vote for a Democrat if they were truly in favor of limiting government.

There are so very few who actually vote to limit government, I don’t see how someone who is serious about it can afford to be picky about a virtually meaningless party label.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

The same people who would miss that are the same liberal Republicans who vote the party line on everything, regardless of content.

Just keep it up Eddie, and people will begin to hate you…

…Huh? Your penny is in the mail, sugar.

On to my perspective, I think she’s making one of a few good moves as far as her long term. She’s not immediately announcing what would undoubtedly be an unpopular campaign for presidency, and for the most part, is falling out of any official decision making until she can bolster her support amongst Americans again.

With that being said though, she couldn’t have made a worse decision as to how she (or her handlers) delivered the entire affair. Republicans aren’t quite out, but they’re sure down, and the last thing they need, hot on the heels of a failed election and an AWOL governor are more surprises. She should’ve been immediately clear with her intentions, instead of letting the media circus run with the story (in directions she undoubtedly had no intention of them running in).

Agreed Eddie, but the one compliment i will give Palin was the idea to extend the olive branch to Dems who share the same goals.

She is going to have to appeal to Dems and those who vote principles, not politics if she is going to have a successful bid at the presidency.

I think she has a long, long, long, long way to go learning the issues, but when she ran for Governor she kept the folksy banter out of her run and she sounded professional and intelligent and informed. Had she done that last year I think she would have avoided most of the criticism.

  • FlyOnTheWall

…and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and “energy independence.”.

I’m with her on that boat.

Just keep it up Eddie, and people will begin to hate you… and where’s my Gaw-damned penny?

As for Palin, good on her.

I used to assist a Second Amendment grassroots lobbying group in trying to get good legislation passed in our state legislation while fighting bad legislation.

We were surprised how little the -R or the -D actually meant when it came time to get votes.

In our state at least, those senators and delegates from rural parts generally voted pro-gun. City-based legislators more often voted against gun rights, regardless as to whether they called themselves Republicans or Democrats.

Also, we ran into an urban Democrat who had suffered some personal trauma and was known to start packing heat, even within chambers of the legislature itself. To the surprise of many Conservatives, we got his votes on some pro-RKBA legislation. He explained that he could not vote completely with us, as he was answerable to his constituency, but supported gun rights more than he had ever done before.

That stimulus bill would not have passed were it not for the cross-over votes from the RINO/LIARs of Specter, Snowe and Collins (I believe)

I can certainly understand that what Palin is going for is Conservative votes, not the deceptive labels which have proven more to be camouflage than anything else.

    Now about that Gaw-damned penny….
