Inside the Mad Mind of March - Final Four

A North Dakota friend of mine who has way too much time on his hands sent me this. I thought it was an insightful look at this weekend's final four. I mean, this blog is Say Anything, and he did.

Well, don't ask me who is going to march through the final four undefeated………. I guess that is why they call it March MADNESS. Some things were not exactly hard to see coming... Connecticut although the overwhelming favorite by all the so called experts looked like a team that wanted to lose from game one on... Kansas... I always pick them and they always lose. The last time I failed to pick them was 1988! Enough said! North Carolina.... too young and not hungry enough after winning it all last year. But how about a Cinderella story... Gonzaga - gone. Wichita State - Turgeoned to death after a great run. Cinderella's never win this tournament... they only win games - never the whole thing. Duke... every one hates Duke and they were a two-man team. Cut the head off of the snake and stop the kid from Oklahoma Sheldon "Leonard" and they are over.

No big ten team in this group but then again the Big Ten had no teams that were above average so that was not surprising. Next year they will have a great Ohio State team but that is next year. Texas looked like a definite maybe but then they had no depth and in this day an age when defense goes at it full out, all the time... depth is important. So you could see this all coming?

West Virginia had a nice club and I liked Villanova but Villanova was small... the Guards have a bad shooting night and it is all over but the shouting. Memphis, Tennessee, naaah! No way... flawed teams and who wants to see Calipari win anything?

So was it all predictable.... well in hindsight Florida and LSU look like great picks. I never believed in Florida until I watched them play in the tournament. I guess I was still being influenced by the under achieving Florida teams of the past but as the tournament went on they really started to look like a contender to me? LSU who I watched earlier in the season looked like they were a year away but after watching them in the quarterfinals and the odd eight I became a believer and was asking myself why I couldn't see this coming? Maybe because I have a great dislike for Dale Brown even though he hails from down the road piece - a place called Minot, North Dakota. UCLA.... I knew Ben Howland would make them a candidate to win it all but I thought he would need another year or two.

Now people expect me to predict the finals in that I pretty much picked the final four... too bad I didn't write any of them down on my bracket challenge... where you actually win money? I want to take LSU as they seemed loaded for bear or go with the Florida Gators or as we call them the GatorHawks because I am a KU fan too. So I could predict a really great game between Florida and LSU giving the nod with a wink to LSU only because they have a better coach even though no one has ever heard of coach Brady.

And now Ralph Sampson is being stolen away from Oklahoma to coach in the basketball challenged big Ten. Yes the conference that can't even count to eleven - they shouldn't be allowed to field a team against the more academic teams who can actually count. The big eight figured out right away that hey had twelve teams in the conference. You don't see them calling themselves the Big Eight or the Big Eleven do you? Or is it Will Sampson that Indiana is about to sign? How quick we forget. He will probably leave Oklahoma on probation and another program will be in shambles, almost as big a mess as Missouri.

Still I am going to go with LSU. Underdogs each and every one in this tournament and when it is over it will all seem predictable.

Wow.  What a complete ass.  Not only cannot he not admit that he doesn’t know as much about college b-ball as he thought he did, he goes through an entirely mediocre evaluation of the Final Four teams without mentioning one of them.  Historically speaking, the most important team.

You may want to temper that "Say Anything" theme ...

Sounds like a really smart guy with a real insight into College basketball.  It is nice to know we have some one out there other than Billy Packer who really understands the game.

From North Dakota, and he’s thinking about HOOPS this weekend when the Fightin’ Sioux are taking the ice in the Frozen Four?
