In Venezuela, Obama More Popular Than Chavez

Which is why Chavez wanted the photo-op with Obama, and even gave The One a book.:

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD — In an interview with ABC News, Jeffrey Davidow — a senior adviser to President Obama on Latin American affairs and director of the Summit of the Americas — said that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez rushed a photograph of he and President Obama shaking hands onto his government’s website because Mr. Obama is more popular than Mr. Chavez in Venezuela.
“Every president and political leader in Latin America, and many in the rest of the world as well — maybe not every one of them — really sees political benefit in being seen to be associating with President Obama,” Davidow said. “And whether Chavez has problems with us or doesn’t, and he does, and there is this strained relationship, it is in his political interest, he thinks, to be seen with our president.”

And, of course, our President is more than happy to give the socialist dictator exactly what he wants: Legitimacy.

I loved it when Chavez said he would do an embargo against the US, that was even funnier. Little did he know that trade with the US or any other country would actually inject money into his economy.

Let’s see, Obama is not actively shutting down the press in their country and the press is controlled by Chavez who wants a free hand to do whatever BS he cares to do in his country.

Also, Chavez sees a weak leader in power. He’s doing all he can to capitalize on it.

Can’t argue with you there. He sure is a changing this country is a very socialist way. What better teacher could he ask for then Chavez… perhaps Chavez could also teach Obama a bit about the drug trade. It’s how Chavez finances his campaign.
