I’m The 8th Best Thing About North Dakota
Because if it’s on the internet, it has to be true.

Rob Port’s SayAnything blog. It’s informative, entertaining and somewhat addictive.
Not you, the blog. And by her first two adjectives (informative and entertaining) she was obviously referring to me.
I’m surprised she didn’t fit humble in there too.
What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity? I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.
Typo… The word Readers’ should have preceded the word blog. Congrats on at least providing the forum for the readers’ blog section. We all play our part, and yours just happens to be a support role. Be content with that. (How the heck do I put a smile face in here?!)
“Hope is not a method.” - Common Military Saying
The above is a statement of pro activity. If any Soldier were to tell me that he hoped what he was briefing was going to come to fruition, that would be unacceptable. We in the Army do not have the luxury to ‘hope’ that things will end well. Hope will get us killed. Instead, we must plan and take action. Hope is not a method.
As a leader I can never ‘hope’ that my Soldiers have the proper training. I can never ‘hope’ that my Soldiers have the proper logistical supplies. I can never ‘hope’ that my Soldiers will survive the next mission. Hope is not a method; I live in the real world.
To celebrate, I’m sharing 100 reasons to love North Dakota (not in any particular order).
It is like saying there is a website in North Dakota, hahaha.
There are world class smart people in this state.
For instance, do you remember Saddam’s scorched earth? Do you remember all those oil wells that got blown? They were saying it could take years to get them all capped but a man from North Dakota came up with the plan to get them shut down in a few weeks using huge jet engines to suck the oxygen away from the fire, it had never been done before. While everyone was so scared one man stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. You will not find that in any history book most people never even noticed they got put out so fast. My brother stood up to the plate over in Kuwait to tell people how to do it as well, sleeping in tents that were coated in oil by the wells and even then he woke up inside the tent with 1/4 inch oil all over his face.
The people who stand up to the plate to get the job done when it is not an easy task are the: #1 Best thing in North Dakota.
BTW that man was me!
Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something.

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Ahem. But could you have gotten that acclaim without us, your faithful commentators and bloggers?
Thanks again for creating the truly unique format for guest bloggers.
You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.
North Dakota must be a sad, sad place if that is true.

Well, I’m back. I hope you know how much I appreciate you all; you have helped to open my eyes a little bit, and I’m grateful for the friendly education. The forum is wonderful.
As far as fools go I’m sure I am one, but I think I’m enjoying that, too.
And Paul, while I’m being foolish, let me just say I was glad to read your story. It demonstrates the creativity, hard work and general genius I’ve come to associate with North Dakota people.
Thanks, everyone, for making my day. Thanks especially to Rob for the forum and for always answering my questions.
