Check out this NEW POLL from the NYTimes showing Bush with only a 29% Approval Rating (Rasmussen has Bush 9 points higher at 38)

Here’s the SAMPLE they used:

Republican Primary Voters= 282
Democratic Primary Voters= 504

They sample almost 2:1 Democrats then say “This is what America Thinks!”

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

I’m curious to know what the other eight states are.  I’m not sure if Washington is one of them, though I have seen several driver’s licenses that say, next to the photo, “Not Valid for Identification Purposes.” The explanation we got from the DoL was something along the lines of “We can’t swear this person is who they say they are, but we’re going to go ahead and let them drive anyways.”

What everybody overlooks is that the majority of illegals don’t need drivers licenses because they live in the big cities(more jobs) where taxpayers have already invested obscene amounts of money on public transportation projects.  Here in san jose ca you go anywhere on a multitude of trains, buses, and shuttles. Why is public transport only good enough for taxpayers and not illegals?

Well, I live in Maryland, and take it from me, this state is screwed. If anyone really wants to see what a cluster F*!# this state has become check out http://www.omalleywatch.com/ , it’s a site dedicated to our boy wonder craptastic excuse for a governor.
This slimey bastard is interested in getting drivers licenses for the illegals solely for the next elections. He, the Gov, has managed to raise our taxes to a national high and screw up just about everything else he touches. Oh, did I mention that we got pay for him to go to Ireland. Yeah, to the tune of about 14,000 for security alone.
Whatever, we’re screwed, and hopefully with this new rule we can help screw up the rest of America.

Undocumented immigrants would not be able to use their license to board airplanes, enter federal buildings, or cross borders. Some Maryland residents side with the lawmaker.

Granted, O’malley is giving ILLEGAL immigrants licenses that are limited, but this is a state induced method that flags illegal immigrants in their state.  Not a gigantic bereaucracy that costs millions.

What other ways are there to uproot the illegals from their hiding places?  The movement towards identifying them, gathering them, and kicking them out are incredibly costly.  Also, what would happen to our economy when they’re all gone?  Would it be even more costly?

a) track down illegals that are using false or stolen social security on the job.

b) when the police come across an illegal they need to be deported (the illegal not the cop).

c) don’t give welfare to illegals.  When they show up for free emergency rooms they need to be deported. 

Actually I’d do b) first.

As a former surf in the People’s Republic of Maryland, I can verify your statement. I am glad I left.

Nothing but Blue in this little state of mine. We had a Gov who was doing a pretty good job, considering he had no other Republicans to work with, but the voters of this state don’t listen to the message or look at the track record they just vote for who ever has that D next to their name.
The only reason we got a Republican in there for four years was because the Dem he ran against was so bad that even Dems couldn’t bring themselves to vote for her.
O’Malley - City Council Man - was going to lose his job there.
So Baltimore elected him to be the Mayor. - Crime goes through the roof. Economy falls through the floor. Schools ‘lose’ millions and the State has to bail them out.
So, Maryland elected him Governor. The day that the national survey of ‘best states for education’ comes out, this dipshit tells the voters he wants to replace the school superintendent. Also, we just had the biggest tax increase in I don’t know how long.
He managed to take a surplus and turn it into a 1.7 billion dollar deficit. Did I mention he’s only been in office for about a year.

Actually this policy is a good thing. When the time comes that the pedulum swings, and it will, Maryland’s new government will have a handly list of all illegals in the state.

The can use this kind of like the “progressives” would use a gun registry.

Exactly my point John D. This is a seemingly convenient way to identify alot of illegals.  We could use this in a lot of states perhaps.

Sad to say, a list of addresses for illegals would be close to useless.  Illegals are constantly moving and even if truthful in their initial submission of an address of record (and generally they are not) any address given would be out of date by the time the ICE men come to collect them up.

Better still is to conduct audits of those businesses that trigger governmental scrutiny by generating No Match letters: letters from Social Security that the Social Security numbers sent in by the employers simply don’t match, or is often the case, are duplicative, sometimes with something like 700 workers at a meat packing plant reporting the same social security number.

Even that is no panacea, since a lot of employment of illegals is completely under the table and no taxes are paid and none of course reported to the government.  You can often find a lot of short, swarthy hispanics gathered in the parking lots of 7-11’s early in the morning, looking for stakebed trucks and drivers who mention trabajo (work)

The illegals pile in and pick tomatoes or spinach or whatever else they are doing under the table.  BTW a lot of those food-poisoning scares, such as kids school lunch strawberries, spinach and now tomatoes can be traced back to the pickers going to the bathroom in the fields and not washing their hands.

Second, section 287(g)of the Immigration and Nationality Act authorizes local enforcement of immigration laws.  We need to start implementing this, period.

A good way to start is through attrition.  Any time an illegal comes into contact with government, especially for police involvement, take them into custody, place a federal hold on them and have ICE come by and pick them up.  If they entered without papers or overstayed their visitors’ visa by 180 days, then put them on a red rocket to Mexico, landing them at the Southern tip, not just South of the Border.

There’s lots that can be done to address the problem and well short of massive KGB-style sweeps.
