If You Count All The Votes In Democrat Primaries Hillary Leads Obama By Over 154,000 Votes

Going by the coverage Obama receives in the media you’d think he’s on a downhill jog toward victory.  But the truth is that when you go by the popular votes in the various Democrat primaries/caucuses (including those votes cast in Florida and Michigan) Hillary leads Obama.  Easily.

Hillary’s vote margin in Kentucky, with 100 percent reporting: 249,374.

Obama’s vote margin in Oregon, with 88 percent of precincts reporting: 94,668.

Hillary’s gain in the popular vote margin last night, as of now, no matter which states you count: 154,706.

According to the RealClearPolitics math, Hillary now leads if you count Florida and Michigan AND if you count the estimates of caucus states Iowa, Nevada, Maine and Washington. If you don’t count the caucus states, she leads by an even wider margin.

So what does this mean?  For one thing, it means that more Democrats would seem to be supporting Hillary than Obama.  For another, it would also seem that if Obama wins the nomination it will be an illegitimate victory seeing as how it came without counting votes in two of the nations most populous and vital swing states.

I know the liberal love affair with Obama knows no boundaries in terms of departures from logic and reason, but do Democrats really want to nominate a guy who can’t even win the popular vote within the party itself?

Giving Shrillary (I can insult her now without offending liberals, right?) 100% of the delegates from those two is a bad way to go at it.  I’d roughly estimate that she might take it with something approaching the Kentucky margin, minus some points.

CNN has a nifty delegate counter:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/29/delegate.counter/index.html

The whole family can play the game!
How can BOTH Hillary AND Obama lose?!?!  He needs 2026 and it’s still possible for her to stop him.  It doesn’t mean she wins but scorched earth is how she plays politics.

Interesting that we didn’t hear the same argument from the left in 2000, isn’t it?

That’s true, but it does/should give her credibility in going after the stuper(sic) delegates.

Um, you’re counting the 328,151 voted Hillary got in Michigan, where Obama wasn’t even on the ballot?  And you’re not giving Obama any of the 237,762 Michigan votes for “Uncommitted”?

If you were an Obama supporter in Michigan, you had 2 choices: either stay home or vote for “uncommitted”.  Either way, Rob thinks your vote shouldn’t count, but Hillary supporters’ votes should count.

Who’s The Truth guy spouting the racist crap?  Has he been here before?

I’d argue that Obama wins the Democratic delegate count but is weaker in the swing states which is why the media is already playing up excuses for his loss.  (In Kentucky it was reported Obama lost because Kentuckians are less intelligent.)

My fairly worthless predictions;  if no Hillary VP, Obama gains the 30% koolaid drinkers of the democratic party back.  He starts losing more of the middle as we learn more about him.  Currently, I think it’s close between McCain and Obama.

FlyOnTheWall on May 22, 2008 at 12:04 pm

Doesn’t Michigan allow for write in votes?  How did Hillary get on the ballot and Barack not?  Sounds like his problem.

I certainly agree that the whole thing is messed up.  Who would have guessed the Demoncrats were incompetent.

We have three choices for President:

1.) A bitch, who is a lawyer, married to another lawyer…

2.) A lawyer, married to a bitch who is also a lawyer, and…

3.) A true American war hero married to a gorgeous blond who runs a beer company.

Mickey on May 22, 2008 at 12:55 pm

If those were valid qualification for President then McCain would be in.

Unfortunately it’s not.  McCain has disqualified himself with his plans to reward criminals and to wreck the US economy with his energy policy.

He has no plan on the environment which will wreck the economy. Obama does!

Would you rather have Obama or Clinton?

McCain’s “global warming” cap and trade scheme is every bit as bad as Obama’s and more dangerous because being a Republican the minority party will not be able to effectively oppose it.

Furthermore both Obama and McCain are against exploiting our oil resources in ANWR and are unified that we should continue to send money overseas.

Someone can’t even do basic math! Super! Moron…

The superdelegates are more than free to change their minds. Some already have. If Hillary is convincing enough, and the next few contests are crush fests…it’s not like Obama couldn’t see 100 delegates go Hillary’s way. And that would reopen the whole race, and probably push Hillary to a win. Obama’s 1900 aren’t guaranteed…

If you were an Obama supporter in Michigan, you had 2 choices: either stay home or vote for “uncommitted”.  Either way, Rob thinks your vote shouldn’t count, but Hillary supporters’ votes should count.

That was Obama’s bad. He refused to get his name put on the ballot. Considering it wouldn’t have cost him anything…it was an insanely stupid move. By noteven being on the ballot, Obama made it look like he didn’t give a damn.

Whistler:  McCain has clearly stated that he will make border security his first priority.

Fool me once, shame on you…

He has no plan on the environment which will wreck the economy. Obama does!

The hell he doesn’t. His cap and trade scheme would destroy our economy. His plan is the worst one I’ve heard so far!

Would you rather have Obama or Clinton?

Clinton vs McCain would be an absolute wash. It may end up being better to elect the shrew than McShame.

Of the two, bad as she is, Hillary for sure.  I would think she is a bit more pragmatic than Obama.

But I hate the choices.  To me this whole primary process shows that something is totally screwed up with how we pick Presidential candidates.

The smoke filled back rooms would be better, at least this year.

Hmm, tough decision.  McCain may be less bad in the short run, Shrillary perhaps less bad in the long run.

Doesn’t really matter I’m not going to vote for either one.  I’d rather have someone I can vote for that would be good hopefully in both the short and long runs.

For me, I don’t want Clinton or Obama naming Justices to the SCOTUS, nor do I want either of them as Commander in Chief.

McCain is certainly not your cup of tea and is only marginally mine. But a unitary democratic government for the next 4 to 8 years? Can’t stand the thought.

I’ve said it before.  John McCain will further destroy the Republican party.

For me, I don’t want Clinton or Obama naming Justices to the SCOTUS, nor do I want either of them as Commander in Chief.

I don’t either, but really, the fact is that both are incredible vulnerable and only a terrible candidate could lose to either of them.

Enter John McCain.

By the way I don’t knock your character because you support a candidate that you think will be less bad than the alternative.  In my opinion supporting even a less bad candidate makes things worse in the long run.

Actually, Whistler, HUGE numbers of elections are settled on the principle of voting for the least bad candidate. For many voters in 2004, that was the reason for voting for President Bush.

Well, not for me.  I voted for him because I thought he’d in general take us in the right direction.  I didn’t like/don’t like everything about him, but in general he wasn’t too bad.

I’m glad he’s not up for reelection because considering his asinine support of amnesty it would be very difficult to say he was a valid candidate.

That was hilarious - it was when they picked the new mascot for the school and the vote was tied between the Giant Douche and the Turd Sandwich.  That’s an awesome metaphor for this primary.

k_lunch on May 22, 2008 at 03:09 pm

From my perspective we have a douche, a turd AND a seasoned, mature, war veteran with genuine leadership experience in McCain.

pparets is right. A hard liberal democrat with a 60% democrat run congress is a recipie for a spending disaster. Obama will make Bush look like a tight wad when it comes to all his entitlement spending.

Obama is a terrible choice. Hillary is just a poor choice.
