I Dispense Relationship Advice

Earlier today I got an email from a reporter named Alexa Scordato from Nerve.  I’d never heard of it before, but as near as I can tell it’s sort of like Maxim only quite a bit raunchier.

Anyway, she asked me if I’d take part in an article she was doing about relationship/sex advice from “Republican activists.” That’s certainly not an area were I consider myself an expert capable of dispensing advice to others, but since she asked nicely I decided to oblige.  Apparently this article is part of a series called “Sex advice from...” with people from a different group or demographic responding each week.

You can read my answers to the questions at the bottom of this page.  This one was my favorite:

What’s the best place to pick up a conservative?
Gun stores, I’d imagine. There can’t be a lot of liberals in gun stores looking for deals on ammo.

They didn’t include all of my answers to the questions (I was also asked where I thought the best place to stage an orgy was), but whatever.  It was sort of fun to respond, but I’m not sure why anyone would consider this sort of thing worth their time.

Rob you seem very mature and well spoken.  We have four children and a 13 year marriage.  It is refreshing to hear a grounded point of view.  Best Regards.

Is this going to be a new feature in SA?

Apparently the Nerve page is ‘adult content’ and can’t be viewed here at my work.  I guess it’ll have to wait until I get home…

Do you work at a daycare?  wink

Rob, That was funnier than hell. I did like the one about the gun store. I am so glad that my wife is republican at least she voted that way in the last election. She realized that voting gop was the way to go or should I say her mother set her straight and told her listen to your hubby he is right.

And your point is....????

I did like your answers to the survey though. I brought you up right.

However, was it the best use of your time?

You’re not listening!

Since when has that had anything to do with Blogging?

You need to encourage Rob to start doing the advice column thing.  And when I say encourage I mean make him do it.

OK, I finally got online outside of the daycare and read the Q&A and I’d like to second what Greg said:
“mature and well spoken”
I especially liked your answer to the first date question.

The gun shop answer was humorous, and well stated.

The whole thing also reminds me how fortunate I am to have married someone with nearly identical religious and political views (though she’s not into economics enough to discuss that part of it).

I’m marrying someone who comes from a very liberal family, but who is pretty a-political herself.  She’s apathetic about politics, but when we do talk about it she finds she ends up taking the conservative position on most issues.

It surprises her, because she’s always thought of herself as a Democrat because that’s what her parents are.

I appreciate you taking the time out to answer to the questions Rob.  Your answers were well thought out and it’s a shame my editor didn’t include all of them!  Thanks again!

all the best,
Alexa
