Hypocrisy: Dems Disavow Senate Candidate, Label Pro-Life, Anti-Gay Marriage Org “Hate Group”
12:24pm
The political party that is pleased to label themselves “Democrats” has disavowed the Democrat US Senate candidate who was democratically chosen by Democrat voters under Democrat party rules in last Thursday’s Tennessee Democratic primary election. From The Tennessean:
Less than 24 hours after a man espousing conservative and libertarian views surprised the state’s political scene by winning the Democratic nomination, the Tennessee Democratic Party disavowed him, saying he’s part of an anti-gay hate group.
The party said Friday that it would do nothing to help Mark Clayton, 35, who received nearly twice as many votes as his closest challenger in Thursday’s seven-candidate primary, winning the right to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Bob Corker in November.
Mr. Clayton is a traditional, “Blue Dog” Democrat whose positions obviously reflect the views of a majority of Tennessee’s Democrat primary voters who chose him by a nearly two-to-one margin… fiscally responsible government, pro-life, and a traditional definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Thus the disavowal… and the excuses.
“Many Democrats in Tennessee knew nothing about any of the candidates in the race, so they voted for the person at the top of the ticket. Unfortunately, none of the other Democratic candidates were able to run the race needed to gain statewide visibility or support.
“Mark Clayton is associated with a known hate group in Washington, D.C., and the Tennessee Democratic Party disavows his candidacy, will not do anything to promote or support him in any way, and urges Democrats to write-in a candidate of their choice in November.”
This isn’t the first time that Democrats have labeled those who oppose gay marriage as haters, or in this case, a “known hate group.” The tactic is clearly serial and deliberate. And adolescent. It kinda reminds me of the behavior one often sees in real adolescents who scream similar epithets at their parents when the parents refuse to give in to something the child wants. “I hate you!” yells the mid-tantrum 10 year-old whose mother refuses to allow her to wear lipstick to school.
The irony is that liberal Democrats who label those who disagree as haters or hate groups are the very same folks who bray about inclusiveness, and diversity, and of course, tolerance. And when their own voters choose a candidate whose views do not accord with the party’s victim flavor of the month, they disavow both the duly elected candidate and the democratically expressed views of their own voters. Democrats are anything BUT democratic.
