“Hurricane” Game Makeup Scheduled
Katy Feeney of MLB's commissioner's office said that Thursday's delayed game in Baltimore would be made up as a doubleheader in New York on September 26th or 27th.
This did not appease the Yankees who were still upset.
"Schools, businesses, athletic events - virtually everything - was called off," said George Steinbrenner. "And for them to proceed was stupidity at its worst."
"It's the wrong decision to play unless we were going to play at 10 in the morning," said Mike Mussina. "It couldn't come out with a worse outcome than this. They moved the game up, we played five innings and it ends in a tie. And now we might have to play two anyway."
"They're canceling everything around here - schools are canceled, the government left, the Navy's pulling out, and the Orioles and Yankees are playing baseball," said Derek Jeter.
Orioles manager Mike Hargove had a different outlook: "I wasn't surprised at all. If we would have been New York, I'm sure they would have done the same thing."
So let's recap: The stats from Thursday's game will count, but the entire game will be replayed on the last weekend of the season. That doesn't make a lot of sense.
But what can you expect when Bud Selig is the commissioner.
