Huckabee: I Won’t Be Airing Any Negative Ads Like The One You’re About To See

Mike Huckabee is one slick politician:

Talk about political jujitsu!

Mike Huckabee is holding a press conference right now in which he was supposed to unveil a new negative ad against arch rival Mitt Romney.

But Mr. Huckabee came to the press conference and announced he’d had a change of heart and would not be broadcasting the ad after all.

But wait! It gets better.

He then broadcast it for a room crammed with reporters, photographers and television cameras.

The assembled media found the display hilarious and at several points laughed out loud.

Huckabee likes putting on the airs of an “aw shucks” country pastor, but underneath I think he’s a lot more of a calculating, cynical politician than either he or his supporters are willing to admit.

I’d even go so far as to say he’s a snake in the grass.

Yeah seriously.

It’s like saying “I never say anything negative.  And to prove it, I won’t say anything about how fat you look in that dress...”

From what I saw of the ad, by the way, it was utter BS.

Romney left the state with a Billion Dollar Deficit?  First I’ve heard of that.  Romney raised taxes $700 Million?  Um, no.

And this is the guy who calls Romney’s ads “dishonest”?

The entire conservative leadership HATES this guy.  If he can win Iowa it will be a miracle.  He also has NO organization to get out the vote.

He’s toast.

P.S.,

Think about it.  He shows the ad to everyone knowing they will film it and write about it.  Only when they do, it will be NEWS and not an ad.  People don’t believe ads.  They do believe the news.

He also doesn’t have to spend a dime on advertising while all the time pretending to be “above it all”.

This dude is even slicker than Willy.

(Billspeak for: I wish Romney had thought of that !)

More than one in three Iowans say that Romney is the most negative campaigner there. Maybe what goes around comes around?

I strongly object to the description of Hucabee as a snake in the grass. That is not speaking to the issues like a gentleman, rather it is cheap, vulgar character assassination.

Huckabee has plenty of bad ideas and he has done plenty to discourage Republicans from voting for him, but such name calling is juvenile in the extreme.

Besides, I read where Mayer Bloomberg is getting very close to getting into the race as an Independent. He has the money and he can appeal to the mushy middle sufficiently, even if he is not successful, he can throw this election to the Democrats or the Republicans, taking it out of the hands of the voters. He could get only about 33.4 percent of the vote and win!

I heard about Hucklebee doing this retarded assed crap on satellite on the trip home today. What a lowgrade piece of crap. No wonder people in Arkansas call him Clinton Lite.

And you are right. Shouldn’t call him a snake in the grass. That is insulting and demeaning to snakes and worms alike.

Geesh dude, so what you are saying is that 2/3’s of Iowans DO NOT think Romney is the most negative?

Lol, thanks for that.  Do you actually think before you post?

Rasmussen Markets showing some very interesting information regarding Huckabee in Iowa and nationally.

The message?  He is in full-blown melt-down and Romney is charging hard.

Data from RasmussenMarkets.com suggest that Giuliani has a 27.7 % chance of winning the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney 26.4 %, John McCain 22.5 %, Mike Huckabee 9.3 %, and Fred Thompson 3.5 %. Among Democrats, Clinton has a 69.6 % chance to win the nomination while Obama has a 21.1 % chance. Other results are provided on the Rasmussen Markets Summary page.

Data from Rasmussen Markets shows that Mitt Romney has gained ground in Iowa since Christmas. On December 30, for the first time since the Huckaboom began, the market data indicates that Romney had a better chance at winning Iowa than Mike Huckabee. For trading on the day of December 30, the closing prices showed Romney with a 54.9% chance of winning while Huckabee’s chances were 45.1%. The previous day showed Huckabee at 54.9% and Romney at 40%.

However, the numbers remain fluid and both candidates moved under 50% on December 31 (current pricing—Romney at 52.0 %, Huckabee at 44.0 %). Robert Novak has reported that Huckabee may be slipping a bit.

Geesh dude, so what you are saying is that 2/3’s of Iowans DO NOT think Romney is the most negative?

No that’s not what I say at all, oh, math impaired one!  35% of those polled identified Romney as the most negative. Most of the other politicians they asked about were in single digits. You really want to brag about this???

Regardless of your choice for president, who has done more negative campaigning: Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Mitt Romney, or Fred Thompson?

A: Romney 35%, Thompson, Huckabee, Guiliani, McCain combined 26%

That was from a Bloomberg/ LA Times poll
I referenced it on a post that I knew you wouldn’t visit, because if you posted there, you would have been ON TOPIC. (When has that ever happened?)

Proof,

Heard a Romney guy on Fox News today say that these are not “negative ads” but rather “contrast ads” that he is airing.

My feelings on it are that we definitely need to focus on immigration, taxes, the economy, WOT, etc.  I simply want abortion and gay marriage returned to the states, so these matter little because by my definition, these are states issues, not federal, therefore the Pres doesn’t have much to do with it.

Romney isn’t campaigning negatively to point out that Huckabee is a fiscal liberal and supports illegals.  Just simply pointing out his own statements.  Since Huckabee has taken issue with the Mormon Jesus, it kinda opens him up.

This is the Dean effect.  His star is burning out, hopefully, and it will keep us from looking like a bunch of hillbilly idiots who believe the Earth is 6000 years old and deny evolution if the Republican Party nominates his ass.

I saw it because Huckabee conned the media into airing it for him.  Not a bad tactic, but not entirely honest of him either.

Maybe you should quit carrying his water, Gene.

Neiman, I don’t think it’s unfair to call Huckabee a snake in the grass.  Look at the above instance.  He clearly isn’t an honest person.

It amazes me that people buy into this lie that pointing out a candidate’s record and previous positions is an attack. The paulettes have elevated this to a science, while the Democrats have merely been doing it as a hobby. Politics in America have ALWAYS been dirty, underhanded, and filled with distortions and lies. And they always will be. That is what scumbag lawyers do, lie, distort and use any underhanded tactic to get what they want, to the detriment to all of us real human beings.
