How’s That 50 State Strategy Going? Obama Pulls Staff Out Of North Dakota

Just a little over two weeks ago the Obama campaign announced opening five new campaign offices in North Dakota.  Today the news is that the Obama campaign is pulling all of its staff out of the state.

BISMARCK, N.D. - Barack Obama, who has deployed more than 50 staffers in North Dakota in an attempt to become the first Democratic presidential candidate to carry the state since 1964, is pulling out.

An Obama spokeswoman, Amy Brundage, confirmed Sunday that the campaign’s North Dakota staffers were being sent to Minnesota and Wisconsin, where recent polls have shown a tight race between Obama and Republican John McCain.

If Obama’s fund raising were as prolific as the left claims The One wouldn’t need to be consolidating resources like this.  It’s a sign of trouble for the Obama campaign, make no doubt about it.

Remember when all the liberals were all atwitter at the idea of North Dakota being a reliable red state that’s “in play” this year?  If you listen closely, you can almost here them sighing into their venti soy-milk lattes right now.

According to the polls, it seems to be going pretty well.  http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/

If you listen closely,

You hear the crickets.  The left is in trouble right now.  Barry’s skirt is up, and folks can see him for what he is.  A far left candidate not sure how to compete against a republican candidate.

I have to chuckle at Lestat calling a two point lead (inside the margin of error for most polls) for Obama in a media environment that has a) most polls oversampling liberals and b) pretty much every reporter out there offering friendly reporting to be “pretty good.”

Obama’s in trouble, Lestat, and you’re whistling past the graveyard.

They are not oversampling Democrats.  The truth is that there are actually that many more registered Democrats.

It’s all about the ground game and McCain’s has been poor.  Republican apathy has forestalled their registration effort while Democrats registration effort has been phenomenal.  If anything, they are oversampling Republicans.

WEll of course you believe that, you think a 2.2 point lead is “pretty good.”

If anything, they are oversampling Republicans.

Who are you trying to convince?  Me?  Or yourself?

Yet your candidate is not winning by the big margins that the left had claimed he would. I have seen the break down of a fair number of polls and a lot of them are way over sampling dems.

NOBAMA isn’t going to win North Dakota and not NOBAMA is on the defense.

In the first 9 months of 2008, there were 328 murdered in the Chicago area, as compared to 247 US Troops killed in Irag.

The state pension fund is $44B in debt, which is the worst in country.

The sales tax in Cook County (Chicago) is 10.25%---the highest in country.

The Chicago school system one of the worst in country.

The Chicago area’s political representation consists of all Democrats:  Senators Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Governor Rod Blagojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Attorney General Lisa Madigan (Mike’s daughter), and Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of former Mayor Richard J. Daley).  Of course they’re all blaming each other.  They can’t blame Republicans, because there aren’t any!

This is the political culture that Barack Obama comes from in Illinois.  He says he’s going to “fix” Washington politics.  He’s going to bring “change we can count on”.  From the looks of it, we can count on his change to make things a whole lot worse real quick.

BTW… these are all easy-to-find *facts*, unlike the smears that the Dimocrat Party has stretched in a last-ditch, panicked attempt to smear the McCain-Palin ticket.

This might shock you, but there are about 250 times more people in Chicago than there are troops in Iraq.

Minot attorney Jim Maxson, who was the first North Dakota “superdelegate” to the Democratic National Convention to back Obama, said he believes the Democrat still has a chance to beat McCain in North Dakota.

In any case, the Obama campaign’s work for North Dakota Democratic candidates should give them a boost in November, Maxson said Sunday.

“In Minot, these folks have been working seven-day weeks, 12 hours a day, since July,” Maxson said. “They’re reaching a point of diminishing return on their efforts. I think this is a wise move for them to relocate, and we’ll be fine.”

A statement provided by Brundage said the Obama campaign “always knew it would be an uphill battle,” but staffers “built a grassroots movement we are proud of, and an infrastructure that will help candidates up and down the ballot.”

This is a nice spin job for NOBAMA is a big hit with North Dakotans. I predict it won’t even be close.

National polls mean very little.  When I say very little I mean they’re aren’t worth talking about and certainly aren’t worth writing about.

It’s all about the electoral college.  Period.  I want to know polls in MN, WI, NM, IA, MI, FL, OH, and CO… who cares who wins the popular election?

If that’s true, they sure don’t have much to show for it.  I’ve seen exactly one Obama/Biden yard sign in the city.

That’s the democrats view unless they lose the election!

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

Maybe you could give us a list of things that are acceptable to write about?

This is the political culture that Barack Obama comes from in Illinois.

Yeah JackAss Jimmy, Obama is responsible for the Chicago culture....it was never there before he arrived.  And in his few years as a Senator, he should have completely turned around the culture of corruption that has existed for decades if not over a hundred years.

Very intelligent point.

The Daley machine is responsible for the chaos in Chicago and Barry is a product of the Daley machine!

Kevin on September 21, 2008 at 07:26 pm

And in his few years as a Senator,

What did he do as a STATE Senator to fix the corruption and other problems in Chicago?

Nobody expected him to turn it around in a few years, but neither should we expect him to turn a blind eye to it.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the call I got from 701-255-1155 the other day, from an Obama volunteer, asking who people in our household were voting for?  Obviously my wife and I are voting for McCain, and I told her so.  A few days later, they’re packing up.  Hm…

Clint F on September 21, 2008 at 08:34 pm

I got the same call. The caller seemed disheartened when I told her Barry is a product of the corrupt Daley machine.2l96tes.jpg

"the campaign’s North Dakota staffers were being sent to Minnesota and Wisconsin, where recent polls have shown a tight race between Obama and Republican John McCain”.

If the Obama campaign is hiting on all cylinders, why do they need to send staffers to MN and WI? Correct me if I am wrong, but arn’t these two of the most religiously democratic states in the nation? Shouldn’t BHO have a large lead in these states and not engaged in a tight race to defend them?

Also, as a “Community Organizer”, did Barry ever fight to reform Chicage Public Schools? If he really cared to help people better their lives, wouldn’t reforming the ills of the Chicage School over time improve children’s chances for a better future? Maybe taking on Big-Education (aka the education lobby) was above his pay grade.

No, he doesn’t Pparets. Obama is very much the ESSENCE of chicago politics. Getting all that money sent to Resko. No one expects Obama to change a corrupt city, but a try at it, instead of an immediate aquiencence to it would’ve been nice.

@Hannitized & pparets:  Oh, you mean just like the foundation for the fantastic US economy in the 90’s that the Democrat Party likes to attribute to Clinton’s Administration wasn’t there before he took office (and then destroyed it)?

Barack Obama claims to be a community organizer.  He claims to be an agent of change.  If he is as he claims, he would have taken steps to change these very sore spots within his community.  Instead, what’d he do?  Well… he voted “present” a whole bunch of times.  He’s so behind change in North Dakota that he’s pulled out all his troops.  An inspiration, indeed!

Hannitized’s sarcasm reflects that I’ve done well.  :-D

This might shock you, but Chicago isn’t at war.  Your comparison is bullshit.

The only legitimate role of government with regard to economics is to prevent fraud and provide a remedy- civil and criminal penalties- in case of fraud.

People have the mistaken notion that the free market has no rules.  But it most certainly does.  All our problems are due to government meddling.
