Howard Dean: Bush Spying On People He Doesn’t Like

Ugh...

“I think there’s a lot of similarities between Nixon and Agnew and Bush and Cheney,” Dean said, referring to vice presidents Spiro Agnew - also forced to resign from office - and Vice President Richard Cheney.

“They’re both using the IRS for political purposes. They’re both spying on people they don’t like and not just terrorists, but also American citizens. Neither one of them particularly believes in judicial rights. They’ve both been dishonest with the American people.”

Does Dean have any evidence to prove that the Bush administration is “spying” on people “they don’t like?” I doubt it.  Which is exactly why the Democrats can’t be taken seriously on national security.  Rather than focusing on the merits of things like the NSA’s call monitoring, people like Dean are trying to turn the issue into a political weapon with silly and baseless attacks on the Bush administration.

Dean is the absolute poster boy for why Democrats can’t be allowed to get a majority in Congress.

He’s right, to an extent.  I just shivered as if it was negative 40 degrees.  Anyways, Bush does condone spying on American citizens he doesn’t like.  Bush has repeatedly said he doesn’t like terrorists, those who converse with terrorists and those who coddle terrorists.

The bigger question is why Dean opposes monitoring communications between whomever on U.S. soil and suspsected terrorists abroad.

Excellent criticism. We shouldn’t rush to judgment without evidence; we should stick to the things we know. [/sarcasm]

Dave, Dean made the accusation.  Do you not think he should back it up?

Would anybody be surprised if the government was actualy spying on people?

Howard Dean please post the proof.

Meanwhile you lefties never seemed to care when Bill Clinton used the IRS to attack his critics.

Makke it up about Bush, ignore it when Clinton actually does it.

Howard Dean is one of those people that reassures me that I am on the best side of the political spectrum! I can’t believe the Dems don’t hide him.

Relatively sane democrats and lefties have to wince when this guy spouts off. I love it. He and Kerry should go on the road together. Together they will assure that the Democratic party will stay out of office for the foreseeable future. Rap on, brother!

Discussing the potential for abuse [is] talking about the merits.

Jpe:

Merits are claims to excellence and worth.

The potential for abuse would be focusing on the disadvantages and faults (not the merits).
