How To Help Keep This Blog Running

Over the last year or so, with all the excitement surrounding Obama’s election and the tea parties and the town halls, the readership of Say Anything has shot through the roof. There are a lot of new readers, and it seems every day or so I get an email from someone wanting to donate money to help support the blog.
I’ve always felt sort of uncomfortable asking for donations from people, but if you want to support the blog the best way is just to keep coming here and reading, and telling all your friends and family to come here as well.
The other way is advertising.
The rates to advertise on Say Anything are very reasonable, and the rates to advertise on my radio show (on the hottest new AM station in North Dakota) are even more reasonable.
You can get all the information about advertising here.
If you’ve got a business or website of your own, or maybe even just a favorite charity you’d like to direct some traffic and/or attention to, run an ad either here on the blog or on the radio show. It doesn’t cost much, and it goes a long way toward helping me make this all possible.

Rob, you left off the button to donate directly to me. I’m sure it was a simple oversight.

  • Jess Port

Rob puts a lot of time and energy into this blog for the readers to enjoy! Sometimes even missing things with the rest of his family to do so! Your support is really appreciated by all of us! :) Thanks, readers! You give Rob a place to ramble so I don’t have to listen to it *all* the time!

  • sayanything-4124

    Hee hee hee

Should I just give you my debit card number, so you can take out money whenever you…I mean Rob’s blog…might need it? ;)

  • cneumi

    …and no, you’re not getting a “free sample”. :P

  • sayanything-4124

    Snort!!

Do you have a way to donate to the blog Rob?

  • sayanything-48

    Jess,

Rob puts a lot of time and energy into this blog for the readers to enjoy! Sometimes even missing things with the rest of his family to do so! Your support is really appreciated by all of us! :) Thanks, readers! You give Rob a place to ramble so I don’t have to listen to it *all* the time!

Rob is a “sort-of” hero of mine. while he’s not yet at the level of Washington or Jefferson, he’s very close to Thomas Paine in my book. Without patriots like Rob, our civilization would not be, at all…

It’s a far different era than the founders had, but their wives endured FAR FAR more than anyone today. (not to minimize your endurance…. By the way)

  • cneumi

Nope, nope. :P Custom-built computer company based in North Dakota.

  • sayanything-463

Set up a paypal account – it works for Free Republic, it’ll work here.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

You can just send me some money and I’ll hand it off to Rob.

    Yeah, that sounds good.

  • cneumi

Hmmm, guess I’ll bookmark this and come back in January when I have the new business up and running…

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

There you go Jimmy, then I’d lose my raison d’etre.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

    That would be just fine.

  • jimmypop

have you asked the alerus center for some ad time for one of their concerts?

  • sayanything-48

Dino and rbb add more than one type of ‘value’ to this blog already. Make no mistake.

    No doubt!

  • jimmypop

I guess I could set one up, but I’ve never really liked just taking donations.

dude, if people want to give, let them. if people want to pay your regular contributors and rock solid posters….. let them. (make the checks to Mr. Pop)

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

If it’s a gentleman’s club Rob will take payment in kind.

  • sayanything-81

A glue fund? How about some rye whiskey instead?
Still making fun of me because I can tell when you are being internally inconsistent?
Stigmas are easier to make than a reasoned case?
    Hanky? Miniature violinist?

Ads are great and all, but that fat lady cartoon thing in the upper left is just gross.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Ok, I set up a couple of donation options here.

    http://sayanythingblog.com/static/entry/donate_to_say_anything

You can either make a one-time donation or sign up for a $5 monthly “subscription.” Thought the latter might be nice for those who want to provide on-going support.

  • spartacus

Alright, now I feel kind of dumb about posting the donation link.

You find customer testimonials embarrassing? Billy Mays you ain’t, even though you in a kinda sorta way resemble him…I know…I’m banned….

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Alright, now I feel kind of dumb about posting the donation link.

But whatever. Give a few bucks if you want to. If not, no big deal. I was offering the advertising thing because I thought it’d be a good way to promote some mutually-beneficial financial relationships.

  • sayanything-1317

    “The rates are reasonable.”

He only charges 15 dollars everytime he considers mentioning you.

  • spartacus

You’re all missing his point. I’ve contacted him in the past and asked how to contribute and received the same response. What I’ve learned is that Rob is, depending upon your point of view, a reasonably intelligent guy, he hosts a blog and is fiercely independent. He markets a great product that pays for itself, if it was an inferior product we wouldn’t have Dino, Han, woof, and Sparkie hanging out here. For the time being the product sells itself. If or when the time comes that help is needed I’m sure you’d hear about it.

Hope that wasn’t out of line Rob. But everyone needs to either save their extra dollars or spend them in a way that stimulates the economy. God knows the morons in D.C. are clueless as to how to do it.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Oh I wasn’t offended. Like I said, asking for donations kind of makes me a
    little sheepish.

But with more money I can do more and make this blog better.

  • sayanything-277

Wait.. I think I hear Dino and rbb running to get there checkbooks. I mean without SAB where could they post?

  • sayanything-81

  • spartacus

    ^…sniff…

  • spartacus

Rob, anytime I post something you don’t agree with, you’re free to knock it off the blog & I won’t care, I’m on your property I know that, if I’m outta line bump me I won’t take offense. I know I can be as obnoxious as the next guy and I try harder sometimes.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

No, that was left out on purpose.

What I really should have put in was a donate button that goes directly to
    Sparkie’s glue fund.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Sounds good. I think both advertising on the Blog amd in the radio show can help. Of course, I’m a little biased, but the rates are pretty reasonable.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Do you have a way to donate to the blog Rob?

I guess I could set one up, but I’ve never really liked just taking donations.
