How The UN Does It

John Kerry would like to see the United Nations and NATO take over control of operations in Iraq, but given the job the UN has done in Kosovo I’m not so sure that’s a good idea.
From The National Review Online (scroll down):

The Kosovo adventure, in which NATO bombed the civilian population of Serbia in order to protect Kosovar nationalists, then handed over the province to the U.N. and NATO for “peacekeeping” — which turned out to mean allowing the Kosovars to slaughter Serbs and burn their ancient churches and monasteries, reached a low point a month ago when the U.N. forces were ordered to withdraw instead of defending Serbs against Kosovar mobs. But then it went even lower a couple of weeks ago when the peacekeepers started shooting at each other. Now, according to the BBC, the U.N.’s heroes in Kosovo are involved in sex trafficking, selling girls as young as 11 into sexual servitude. An Amnesty International report “includes harrowing testimonies of abduction, deprivation of liberty and denial of freedom of movement, torture and ill-treatment, including psychological threats, beatings and rape.” No wonder the French want to turn over Iraqi prisons to the U.N.

The big question in my mind is why this situation in Kosovo isn’t getting the media attention that Abu Ghraib is? The UN is openly allowing genocide and is involved in sex trafficking and yet its gets no media attention? What’s even more astounding is the fact that the Oil-For Food Scandal isn’t getting any attention either.
Given these realities, one can’t help but conclude that the media has an political agenda its trying to further with its selective coverage.

Kosovo isn’t the only place on the Globe the UN has set up its sex operations. They opened a branch office in Africa.

“The UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) has launched “a comprehensive investigation” into reported instances of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of civilians, including minors, by its personnel in the northeastern town of Bunia, Ituri District, UN News reported on Friday.

UN spokesman Fred Eckhard said in New York that MONUC was determined to enforce Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s policy of zero tolerance of any sexual misconduct. MONUC “is committed to completing a full and thorough investigation as a matter of urgency, and to applying all available sanctions against any of its personnel found responsible,” Eckhard said.”

Kerry… Oh John Kerry, are you listening… I guess not.

The media has always had but one agenda…to make money.

    Sex pictures gain media attention.

And if relying n the BBC for unbiased news was the way to go, there would have been a much bigger stink in the U.S. about Bush’s getting us in the Iraq mess to begin with.
