How Senators From Energy Rich States Can Vote For Cap And Trade Without Really Voting For It

Here’s a scary thought for North Dakotans, and citizens of other energy-rich states, put forward by Heartland Investor Services’ Eugene Graner (catch him on my radio show every Monday) in the comments to this post:

I will tell you how Dorgan and Conrad will vote for Cap and Tax.
First in fairness, the will vote to break the fillubuster on this legislation, because after all, it should just be brought to an up and down vote. Then they, and a total of 10 democrat senators can vote no, leaving the Vice President to cast the deciding 51st vote to pass this Marxit peace of garbage.

Sadly, that sounds about right. Which means we have to keep the pressure up on the Senators. Not only do they have to vote no on cap and trade, they have to vote no on cloture as well.

I am thinking that the vote won’t be that close Rob.

  • RJ Richards

I hope you’re right Goon. I don’t trust these idiots.

I think if these two senators vote for this crap and Tax stuff they are finally going to be toast. There are enough people on this to get the message out to stop it before it starts. Southern Dems are going to go for this crap. If they support this they will lose their seats.

One can never know what will happen, but I am not thinking it will be that close either, AND, i don’t think Dorgan at least can afford it. Maybe I am off base, but Dorgan seems to be the weakest of our esteemed senators. Will he get re-elected? Yep, unless there is a better candidate put forward than there has been, BUT, I don’t think he has the same luxury of doing what you have described, that Conrad has, but we will see. I know that he had to write a letter to the editor at the Tribune because there were so many “you stink” letters about spending coming in.

I think the Teflon of the three amigos is starting to wear off. I think they might actually have to campaign this time around. That is why we need to flood their offices when the Crap and Tax comes to the floor of the Senate.

I agree 100%. Americans for Prosperity has things people can sign for Dorkan and Conrad.

  • 2Hotel9

Jiggery pokery, that is exactly how this is done, and has been for well over 100 years.

  • bill-tb

But this would imply that no one cares about the effect of TAX and RATION on the American people.

  • EnigmaCypher

Good article, but the picture upset me a little bit. I’d much rather have Moe Howard and Larry Fine as Senators than Dorgan and Conrad.

  • Bat One

Senators shouldn’t have to be “prodded’ into casting their votes in the interest of the state they purport to represent.

  • Buzz

Nice snapshot of Bat and RG there by the way.

    Why I outta…

  • Buzz

Cap and trade no. Card check YES.

  • Michael K.

This brings to mind one of my favorite quotes that I think should describe Republicans in the Senate but should be used to prod Dorgan and Conrad into casting their votes in the interest of their State:

A minority is powerless while it conforms to the majority; it is not even a minority then; but it is irresistible when it clogs by its whole weight.

–Henry David Thoreau – On Civil Disobedience

  • Buzz

Dear Buzz; “Card Check Yes”??!! You want union thugs looking over your shoulder when you vote against unionization of your work place?!

Buzz…. your nothing but a communist thug!

Sir, I am a Union thug. I will be the one looking over your shoulder.

  • 2Hotel9

And there is that lie again. Your shop bounced your ass for stealing. So you are, in fact, a communist thug, because a Union threw you into the street. Now, tell us again how proud you are that you can rip off the workers comp system AND game the medicaid system, all while living off welfare and your parents savings. That was some funny fucking shit right there, buzzy.

I don’t think we can chance it guys. You know the media in the state will give them cover if they pull this.
