How Come The Democrats Health Care Bill Won’t Actually Kick In For Three Years?

After all, don’t the liberals tell us that we’re in a health care crisis? Aren’t we being told that people are dying and suffering because of a lack of government-backed health care? If those things are true, how come Democrats wouldn’t make their health care bill effective faster than three years after it’s passed?
Doug Ross thinks he’s got the answer:

After months of proclaiming the “urgent” need for health care reform, PelosiCare doesn’t actually kick in for at least three (3) years.
There are two reasons for the delay.
First, it’s a tacit acknowledgment that prompt implementation would destroy Obama’s reelection chances in 2012.
Second, it’s an outright financial scam authored by the Statist Democrats: ” The CBO has scored the bill at $1.055 trillion [which] does not take into consideration that fact that the ten-year window contains ten years of revenue and only three to eight years of major payouts –- meaning that the bill will bleed red ink [in subsequent years.”

So the Democrats won’t kick off health care reform for three years after it passes because they want to hide the actual cost from the calculations of the bills cost being formulated now.
And they don’t want Obama saddled with the sad realities of government-run health care before his re-election campaign in 2012.

It’s obvious to someone of average intelligence who knows how to think, which excludes you, obviously.

    I think the freeloaders and Dems will be the ones running to use Obama care. The rest of us will have to get in line behind them. The reason it is going to take 3 years is obvious. Obama will never be re-elected if is put in to action now. The Dems do not need a single vote in the House or Senate to pass legislation. So the only ones to blame for the timing is Dems. It is getting to the point where the Dems are out of Excuses. Excuses are like A-holes everybody has one (but if it is not yours it STINKS). There is no shortage of Dem A-holes unfortunately. The Dems are really stinking up the jount – courtesy flush please. Counting it down till 2010, real hope and change are on the way.

    Dino – just because you say health care is a huge crisis does not make it true. 85% of the citezens of the US have health insurance. The system is not broken. This is another hyped up issue based on lies and hidden agendas. This is nothing but a huge power and money grab(as is Cap and Tax). The democrats entire platform and agenda is a big lie and you never seem to solve any problems. Johnson declared a war on Poverty back in the sixties – The war is lost. Abortion is the fundemental issue that Dems rally behind – 40 million lives have been sacrificed at the liberal altar (vast majority are minorities). It is fine to “choose abortion” and end an innocent life but serial killers and Capitol offenders must be handled with dignity and respect(f**k that). People that are not even citizens are entitled to more benefits that hard working taxpayers. The Dems hold up as heroes, people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. The two biggest race baiting biggots the country has to offer. Bill Clinton is another hero (Known liar and serial rapist) – You really should set your standards a bit higher. Republicans screw up and are asked to resign – Democrats use it as a resume enhancement. To be a Dem/Lib you need only have emotion on issues. To be a conservative requires analysis and thought.     “Affordable” health care. “Affordable”. What does that mean? It means that you have the wherewithal to purchase something or can bear it’s expense.

    There are two ways to make something “affordable”. Once way is to reduce it’s cost so that it falls below your assets. The other is to build your assets so that they fall above the cost.

    One of these modes results in shoddy products that never get any better and lowers motivation to achieve. The other mode results in increasingly good products and drive to be able to afford them.

    Last time I checked it is not the gubment’s responsibility to drive costs down. In fact, most of the time their interference drives costs up. Regardless, treating everyone like so many White House trick-or-treaters for their health care is the ultimate in removing the drive to succeed and achieve.

    Costs can be driven down without sacrificing quality through economies of scale, but that depends on the plant owners having a reason to do so. In a society like ours that oppresses achievement and rewards sloth, growing the plant (or even having a reason to grow the plant) can be a challenge. In many cases, it can even result in diseconomy of scale. Especially when labor unions have been allowed too much clout.

    In a comment on this thread that got scrubbed, I pointed out that he will have three years to collect taxes before there are any payouts, so he can claim to be “cutting costs”. Like Clinton, he will probably claim that his scheme has a “surplus”.

    Yeah but that’s the way it goes with economic socialists. They conveniently forget that the US economy is a big bastard… it takes awhile for policy changes to affect it. Not so with the average voter, who forgets history nearly as fast as it’s written.

    This creates an environment in which it is very easy to make voters think that, for instance, President Clinton was responsible for the economic expansion that we experienced through most of his tenure, and that President Bush and/or the Republic Congressional majority was responsible for the recession we’re experiencing now.

    It one of those things that opportunistic politicians, desperate to prop up their political careers, will take advantage of.

    If this disaster is passed by Congress and signed into law by little barri in the near term but it does not take effect until 2013, just think of all the children who will die during this waiting period because they didn’t have help insurance coverage. How can BHO (mm,mm,mm) allow this to happen? Doesn’t BHO and the Democrats care about the children? I guess they just want children to die.
