How Are My Neighbors Doing?

This picture was taken just about 20 or 30 miles North of Grand Forks last week.

There's plenty more aerial photographs from the flood of '06 here.

Parting shot:

No matter what you think about abortion, this is a rather bizarre statement.

http://www.cleancutkid.com/

"I think ‘rape and incest’ is a buzzword," said [State] Rep. Joel Dykstra about not including those conditions in the abortion bill. "It’s a bit of a throwaway line and not everybody who says that really understands what that means. How are you going to define that?"

Then there is this from another SD politician:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/law/jan-june06/abortion_3-03.html

"A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child would very well threaten her life."

What about a non-religious virgin?  Or a non-religious non-virgin?  Or a religious woman, non-virgin who wasn’t anally raped?  Or an anally raped, non-religious virgin?

The Whistler,

We outside the Dakotas lump the Dakotas together.  I don’t see how this makes me a nut job, but if you perfer to use silly, gratuitous insults for kicks go for it.

We lump in the term "nut job" with "people that can’t tell the difference between of the top states in the nation".

Figuring geographically of course.

The Whistler,

I can tell the difference between the two states.  However, lumping regions together seems perfectly reasonable.

I’m proud of you.

The Whistler,

Can’t defend the Republican party’s nitwits, eh?

TwoHotel9,

I’ll give the standard response you folks seem to be fond of:

Anything I wanted it to be.

How about just sticking to the topic? Thanks.

I personally use the term "nut job" to refer to anyone living in the Blue States.

Wait…

Two, about 1.4 million people live in North and South Dakota.  We are the smartest, hardest-working and best-looking people in the nation.

People like Epi are, obviously and with good cause, jealous.

Rob,

Yeah, I’m really jealous of your nut-freezing winters in N.D.  Indeed, it is such a popular state that your population is at about the same level as it was in the 1920s.  Maybe that’s because your per capita personal income is about 35th amongst the 50 states.  North Dakota is also one of these states that likes to take money from the federal government to fund wheat production which wouldn’t take place if the market were in control of things.  Nah, I’ll stay in the sunbelt.

Yet we always vote for Republican presidents. I still don’t get how that works out.
