How Is Heidi Heitkamp Going To Build An Oil Refinery If Harry Reid Controls The Senate?

In her most recent ad released today, entitled “Train,” Democrat Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp is promising to build an oil refinery.

Heitkamp says she’ll “fight to build” another oil refinery in North Dakota. There’s actually another refinery already planned for the Forth Berthold reservation, but Heitkamp says she wants another.

Setting aside the fact that Heitkamp isn’t even questioning why the government is dictating the terms of energy infrastructure like refineries, how does Heitkamp think a refinery is going to move forward as long as her party controls the Senate?

Electing Heitkamp would mean helping Democrats keep the Senate. Heitkamp is on the record saying she’ll support giving Senator Harry Reid another term as Majority Leader if elected. Reid, for his part, has said “Coal makes us sick, oil makes us sick. It’s global warming. It’s ruining our country. It’s ruining our world.”

Does that sound like the sort of guy who is going to sign off on another oil refinery for North Dakota? Of course not. Yet, that’s the guy who Heidi would keep in charge of the Senate, meaning her promises about oil refineries ring empty.
