House Republican Leader John Boehner Nails Democrats On ACORN

I’m still puzzled as to why Democrats are trying to get some pork for fraudulent voter registration group ACORN.  Not only is it bad policy, but it’s a stupid move politically too.  Because it’s a given that Republicans were going to do this with it:

Washington, Sep 27 - House Republicans have made clear that they will fight for an economic rescue package that protects the interests of families, seniors, small businesses, and all taxpayers.  And as discussions continue in order to forge an agreement that reflects these principles, the American people are taking note of a left-wing giveaway Democrats are pushing to force taxpayers to bankroll a slush fund for a discredited ally of the Democratic Party.  At issue is the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now – better known as ACORN – an organization fraught with controversy for, among other scandals, its fraudulent voter registration activities on behalf of Democratic candidates.

The Wall Street Journal piled on yesterday with this:

“What we have here essentially are a pair of government slush funds created in July as part of the Economic Recovery Act that pump tax dollars into the coffers of low-income housing advocacy groups, such as Acorn.”

“Acorn, one of America’s most militant left-wing ‘community activist groups,’ is spending $16 million this year to register Democrats to vote in November.  In the past several years, Acorn’s voter registration programs have come under investigation in Ohio, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri and Washington, while several of their employees have been convicted of voter fraud…”

America is teetering on the edge of some serious economic problems, and Democrats are busy trying to pork up legislation with slush funds for the far-left advocacy groups that do their election-rigging dirty work for them.

“Shameless” doesn’t even begin to cover this.

Comments

What we have here is one more example of those on the Left intending to rob society’s more economically productive members to provide support and disincentives to those who are too lazy, too stupid, or too judgmentally impaired to be self-sufficient.

Are you guys saying that ACORN is a group of...community organizers?

Fraudulent voters are an important component of their constituency.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

ACORN ought to be charged with fraud and interstate racketeering and shut down… permanently.

Nah! Public hangings always brought out pickpockets! I think we have enough Democrats with their hands in our pockets as it is!

ACORN is under investigation in 5 states for fraudulent voter registrations, and under 2 Federal investigations, one for misappropriation of donated funds, and 1 for multiple labor law violations. One Federal investigation is pending into charges of extortion/coercion of individuals and businesses in Illinois, Texas, Florida, and California. Why, again, are they included in any financial “bailout” plan?

Where’s the “Change”?

Barack Obama has been lying to us. It’s the same old socialist, hate America, where’s my gawddamn handout politics of the left.

likwidshoe on September 28, 2008 at 04:34 am

Let me see, I’m already forced to give to the Democrat party through my union dues.

Now the country is forced to give public money to a hard-left bunch of “community organizers” to register Democrats to vote.

Seems fair.

Poor people, they have no idea that they’re defending their own Democrat Slave Plantation by marching for their Slave Master ACORN.

Democrat Slave Planation through ACORN is now the landlord of those poor slaves now forced to rent from their Slave Masters for the rest of their lives.

The ‘three acres and a mule’ Slave Plantation has worked well for the Slave Masters, hasn’t it.

Stop voting for the Democrat Slave Planation so you won’t be a Slave.

This den of vipers is beyond shame....

We should to be asking as to why these entities and their affiliated legislators [read “co-conspirators”] are not in handcuffs....

Of course you know that if we question the motives “low-income housing advocacy groups” we are “racist”, right???

This is unbelievable though, ACORN being included in this bill, and then eliminated by Republicans is a tailormade win for the Republicans; but I’m watching McCain on ABC This Week right now, and he doesn’t even mention it!!!

If he’s not going to use the tools handed to him, he deserves to lose.  He’s not only fighting against the Obama campaign machine, he’s fighting the media, he needs to get aggressive.

patriot on September 28, 2008 at 06:56 am

McCain does need to get more aggressive.

While “getting aggressive” would make us feel good, it would play right into the scenario that McCain is hot-headed and out-of-touch.

Getting ACORN out of the bail-out bill and ‘calling them out’ publicly are two different things.

McCain is doing just fine for a man who wasn’t supposed to even get nominated in a year when republicans weren’t even supposed to have a chance.

He cannot win this election with only the right supporting him.

Some will argue that that is pandering, cynical or RINO, but it’s just the truth.  He must carry the middle to win.

Pparets,

You’re wrong… McCain needs to cowboy up and kick this young marxist punk’s ass. He needs to take off the kid gloves and use his bare knuckles.

When Obama reguitates his recently memorized lines-which are 50% lies- McCain ought to say so- and he needs to start addressing the son of a bitch as, Barack, instead of Senator Obama.

If McCain doesn’t quit pussy-footing around we will end up with a poverty-pimp-black-racist-citizen of the world marxist Tzar instead of an AMERICAN president.

No, I’m not.  Let’s not get over-heated here, Joel. A campaign for the Presidency is not a kick-boxing match.
While you and I might like a barroom brawl, most voters are turned off by that style of campaign. Anger doesn’t sell.

And let’s not confuse reserve with reluctance.  McCain’s performance on Friday night was exactly what it needed to be, statesman-like and tough. Why do you think he blew Obama away in the DRUDGE poll?

His TV ads are hitting Obama hard and right where it hurts. He is demonstrating maturity over celebrity-status. He is walking the walk while Obama talks the talk.

Remember, there never was a more gracious campaigner than Ronald Reagan, whose humor could be - and was! - devastating.

When McCain makes people laugh at Obama, that is worth far more than nasty ‘gotcha’ stunts.

Zsa Zsa on September 28, 2008 at 08:25 am

All good points P. I just can’t stand how many times this bastard has been let off the hook simply because people are afraid of being branded a racist.

Obama set the stage for that as well. Sometimes, it takes an opposite “extreme” to equalize the scales when one side of the balance beam has been purposely overloaded.

Joel on September 28, 2008 at 08:36 am

ZsaZsa:

BUT He needs to step it up!

Step it up to where, Zsa Zsa?

Whenever the two appear on the same forum, McCain is clearly the winner.  McCain’s ad campaign is devastating.
He has chosen a VP who has riveted the nation.

He cannot win this race by merely satisfying us on the right, any more than Obama can win by appealing to the left.

Presidential elections are won in the middle, regardless of what the candidate will actually do, once in office.

Neither can I, friend! The MSM will protect him no matter what.

But McCain is handling this in the right way - indeed, the only way.  However, that doesn’t stop folks like you and me from saying what we want, and you are doing a great job!  smile

Hang on!  It’s gonna be a rough ride to November 4th!

Step it up to where, Zsa Zsa?

His energy level for one and voice inflection second....thirdly he needs to address Obama as “Barack” to counteract Barack’s purposefully condescending usage of McCain’s first name during the debate… he needs to beat Obama at his own [or rather Axelrod’s] game.... and start employing at least a bit of similar stagecraft.

PP, since when is getting in Barri’s face and telling the truth about his past and his voting record/stance merely satisfying one group?

IMO McCain is doing a great job. BUT the campaign is in it’s last moments until the Finish Line. It is time for McCain and Palin to Gain Strength and step up the Importance of Winning this election! All US citizens have so much to lose IF Obama is elected.  Most individuals are confused about what the Fannie and Freddie Housing debacle is truly about or how it occurred. It is time for McCain and Palin to run harder and faster than they have ever ran before!

Zsa Zsa on September 28, 2008 at 09:11 am

2hotel9:  McCain can surely get in Barri’s face.  Then, in January he can return to the senate and wage a losing battle against President Obama and a democratic congress.

McCain is doing a superior job of hammering Obama on the issues and his past.  He stomps him in every TV event and his ads are devastating. He is neck-and-neck in the polls with Obama in a year when the GOP was supposed to be utterly crushed.

McCain must walk a fine-line here.  He can make folks like you and me happy by “getting in Obama’s face”, or he can win over the middle where all presidential elections are won.

We can’t have it both ways.

Paris Hilton may think John McCain is just a “wrinkly white-haired guy,” but the Republican presidential candidate apparently has figured out the younger generation just fine. Over the past two weeks, his “celebrity” attacks have stomped Democratic presidential opponent Sen. Barack Obama in YouTube hits.

While you and I might like a barroom brawl, most voters are turned off by that style of campaign. Anger doesn’t sell.

Let’s not mistake politeness for meakness either. And let’s not pretend that “getting in someone’s face” has to be angry. If politics was kickboxing, Reagan broke his opponents’ limbs. He was brutal. Carter may as well as limped off the stage with a couple of the smackdowns he got. But Reagan always did it with a smile. It was like watching a kickboxer take on a jujitsu expert.

“Nice” politicians lose. Duncan Hunter may have been the best guy in the race, but he wasn’t willing to get his hands dirty and attack his opponents, and he lost. Jim Talent may have been better than McCaskcal, but he was a nice guy who could no longer use Republicanism and Bush as a reason to get his nod again, so he lost.

There will always be people turned off by attacks on a politician’s record. Let’s be honest, those are stupid partisans who will not be swayed no matter what. You hear people on the news griping about the talk about Wright as “personal attacks”, but that’s not how the average person reacts.

For the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of my country.

PP, the middle want some one to smack Barri, and all the other racebaitingpovertypimps, right down into the dirt where they belong. And doing it politely would be pretty and warmfuzzy, in the end into the dirt is where the middle wants these scumbags thrown. The middle is tired of being pissed on and told it is raining.

I also want you to know Joel speaks the truth about B.O. being an American hate monger of the minority kind. His wife, Michelle, has NEVER been proud to be an American, until her husband got nominated on the Democratic National ticket. NOW SHE’S A PROUD AMERICAN???? I don’t think she is any more proud today than she has been all her life.

My second point is we, as the American pub---lick, (that’s a Ron White joke, folks) have been forced to feel guilty towards Black people because they were once brought here as slaves from Africa by White men. But what is hardly ever mentioned is that Black men sold their Black brothers as slaves for money, knowing exactly what they were doing! Why do most Liberal Whites feel so guilty? I think it is because they do not have the capacity to think about what actually happened in history AND it is easier for them to do what they are told.

God help us, Bless us and wake up the good people before we become any more Socialistic!

DRM on September 29, 2008 at 05:14 pm

DRM, Michelle Obama is not proud of America simply because she has no pride. Period. All she has is false anger. She hates the sham that is her life, so she seeks to punish others for her total failure as an American, and as a human being.
