Hope Springs Eternal: North Dakota Senate May Take Taxpayer Funded Lobbying Bill Up Again

Earlier today I posted about the taxpayer funded lobbying bill being killed by the Senate. I thought that might be the end of the situation, unfortunately, but as it turns out there is still hope.
The Senate can address the bill again, and as I type this tonight there is a group of activists melting the phone lines and email inboxes trying to get Senators behind the bill. And they’re having some success.
You can help. Click here. Fill in your information. Select your state representatives and then write them an email telling them to get behind this bill.
Because North Dakotans shouldn’t have to battle their own government, armed with their tax dollars, to change the law through the initiated measure process.

It is highly unlikely that a lopsided vote of this size can be changed by a reconsideration. A reconsideration is highly likely when the vote is much much closer usually within one or two votes where it is easier to change one or two votes but to change 20 votes?

A much heavier lift and most unlikely IMO.

so now we find out that a couple of sneaky legislators tried to hijack a senator’s amendment, hoghoused it to reinsert a failed bill and then got smacked down big time. What an embarassment! Republicans eating Republicans. Yummy!

i dont know the law well enough…….. i didnt think the government could legally use tax dollars to sell a vote on something.
