Hold On To Your Wallets: Obamacare Would Increase Medicaid Eligibility In 10 States By More Than 50%
And by more than 30% in 33 states. From Heritage:
Nevada, Montana and Texas soon could be home to America’s fastest-growing populations on Medicaid. Health care “reform” bills advancing in the House and Senate would expand Medicaid by making the government-run program available to all adults with incomes at or below 133 percent of the poverty line. The change would dramatically multiply eligible recipients, with 33 states seeing increases of at least 30 percent. Ten states would post jumps of 50 percent or more—including Nevada (82.1%), Montana (80.7%) and Texas (76.9%).

Back in December it was reported that no fewer than 44 states were facing budget shortfalls for this year’s budget. Clearly, our state governments have no more money to throw around than our federal government. Yet, the Democrats are pushing full steam ahead with legislation that would increase dependency on government for health care by double digit rates in ever single state in the union? At rates above 30% in most of the states?
That’s madness. And yet, though I suspect they’d never admit it, most liberals probably see that as a feature of their health care bill and not a bug. After all, their goal in this is more government dependency. That this increase in dependency on the state-run Medicaid programs would, in turn, create more state dependency on the federal government is just the cherry on top.
