Hillary Staffer: If Edwards Story Had Broken Earlier We Would Have Won Nomination

He’s probably not wrong:

(CNN) – If reporters had nabbed former presidential candidate John Edwards lying about his extramarital affair, Hillary Clinton would have captured the Democratic presidential nomination, her former communications director said.

“I believe we would have won Iowa, and Clinton today would therefore have been the nominee,” Howard Wolfson told ABCNews.com in an interview released Monday, because internal campaign polling showed “our voters and Edwards voters were the same people. They were older, pro-union. Not all, but maybe two-thirds of them would have been for us and we would have barely beaten Obama.”

Water under the bridge now, but two things are interesting.

First, it’s funny that the media is even getting flak from the left for covering up the Edwards affair.

Second, this once again demonstrates just how weak a candidate Obama is.  Far from having surged to victory in the primaries, Obama barely eked out a victory over Hillary.  And even now he doesn’t share the unified support of Democrats.  In a recent Pew poll some 30% of self-described Democrats said they were tired of him, and more recent polls show McCain winning among America’s moderates.

Obama’s a weak candidate who can’t even establish a significant lead over John McCain, who is himself a very weak candidate.

Yeah, and if my dog would stop licking his balls, he would not be in love with himself.

If Edwards Story Had Broken Earlier We Would Have Won Nomination

It WAS broken ... it’s just that the ignorant refused to acknowledge the truth at the time

No, it’s Bush’s fault!

If Bush wouldn’t have cheated, we would have won the election.

We can play this lame game all day long.

Another lie from you.  The Dems cheated in several ways, but still couldn’t win.  Another inconvenient truth for you.

If govt control of the economy were the way to go, the Soviet Union would be the richest, most powerful nation in the history of the world.

Thanks to Obama, America remains the only country where it is illegal to drill our own oil!

H,

Do you even have a point?  In the first place Mr. Bush’s “cheating” is on a par with the Toenail Fairy.  More importantly, its your fellow lefties who are throwing hypotheticals about over the recent primaries.  Again, what’s your point?

Bat,

Do you even have a point?

Yes.  My point was about as pointless as this post.  Do you think this post, made a point?

Hannitized on August 11, 2008 at 02:06 pm

H,

You are wrong, sir.  This post has relevance if only as context for the upcoming convention, last week’s revelations that Hillary’s forces are still trying to have her name placed before the convention, the purported uneasiness of some Democrat Superdelegates with their party’s nominee in waiting, and Obama’s crumbling support among all but the hardcore, hard Left “progressives.”

Besides, if you don’t believe this post has a point or yo8u think its not relevant, why trouble yourself to comment on it in the first place?

My guess is obsessive narcissism.

Rob suggested no such thing in is post.  Regardless, that is irrelevant and pointless nonsense anyway.  Obama is the Democrats nominee.

FOXNews might think this is important, because this is all we are hearing about on that station, even moreso than the Russia/Georgian conflict.  But that doesn’t make this story relevant in any way.

To point out the irrelevance of it to people, like you, who confuse this with a meaningful story.

This is just more Obama bashing.

The John Edwards saga really ticks me off. Had he not fessed up to the allegations, he may have gotten a post in the Obama administration. For him to out and out continue to lie ,in the face of what it would do to the party, shows he is a man with no honor at all.
