Hillary Lets The Truth Slip On Socialized Medicine

Over the weekend the big news from Hillary Clinton’s campaign was that her socialized medicine plan would likely call for garnishing the wages of citizens who don’t purchase health insurance.  This supposedly makes her plan distinct from Barack Obama’s socialized medicine plan which wouldn’t require such enforcement measures.  But what Hillary really divulged wasn’t so much an area where her health care plan diverges from Obama’s but rather the big lie behind all socialized medicine scheme.

And what lie would that be, you ask?  That if Hillary or Obama or anyone else pushing socialized medicine get their way we’ll all have our wages garnished to pay for it.

Liberals would have you believe that government-provided health care would be free.  They don’t come right out and say that, but you get that idea from their rhetoric.  They talk about covering people who can’t afford it, and making medical care available “to all.” Yet the reality is that it isn’t free.  Every single person in this country who actually works for a living would pay for that medical care, and pay far more dearly for it than what their shelling out for medical costs now.

Because the government is simply incapable of administering anything in a cost efficient manner.  Plus, productive Americans won’t just be paying for themselves but also all the freeloaders who refuse to provide for their own care.

So it doesn’t really matter if Hillary’s plan would garnish your wages, or if Obama’s plan wouldn’t.  What matters is that in both instances we’d all be paying exorbitant new taxes for that health care.  And as a country, we just can’t afford that.

Comments

In an AP story from last September, Hillary is said to have rejected any sort of punitive measures to force individuals into her health care system, but a careful reader of the quote sees that the Associated Press is in the tank for the Democrat candidate, and that all that was really said was that Mrs. Clinton had yet to reveal all components of her health care
proposal.

WASHINGTON – Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance was the only way to achieve universal health care but she rejected the notion of punitive measures to force individuals into the health care system.

“At this point, we don’t have anything punitive that we have proposed,” the presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We’re providing incentives and tax credits which we think will be very attractive to the vast majority of Americans.”

She said she could envision a day when “you have to show proof to your employer that you’re insured as a part of the job interview – like when your kid goes to school and has to show proof of vaccination,” but said such details would be worked out through negotiations with Congress.

If I am required to show proof of insurance as part of a job interview, then clearly that insurance is not being provided by my (prospective) employer.

Like a good Democrat, Mrs. Clinton is lying again, trying to dodge the truth about what she would do as president and how her proposals would effect the rest of us.  She is attempting to make her vision more palatable by using insurance companies as a front for her determined takeover of the healthcare industry.
