Hillary Clinton: My New Socialized Medicine Plan Is The Best Idea Mitt Romney Ever Had!

From an article about Hillary’s new health care initiative:

Clinton says she has learned from the 1990s experience, which almost derailed Bill Clinton’s presidency and helped put Republicans in control of Congress for years to come. Aides say she has jettisoned the complexity and uncertainty of the last effort in favor of a plan that stresses simplicity, cost control and consumer choice.

Here’s a chart showing how 1990’s-era “Hillarycare” worked:

image

We can hope it’s simpler, but I’m guessing it won’t be.  Oh, and by the way, she’s claiming that her newest health care scheme isn’t “government-run.”

“This is not government-run,” Clinton said of her plan to extend coverage to an estimated 47 million Americans who now go without.

She called for a requirement for businesses to obtain insurance for employees, and said the wealthy should pay higher taxes to help defray the cost for those less able to pay for it. She put the government’s cost at $110 billion a year.

“Perhaps more than anybody else I know just how hard this fight will be,” said the New York senator.

Dismissing the inevitable Republican criticism, Clinton admonished the crowd. “I know my Republican opponents will try to equate health care for all Americans with government-run health care. Don’t let them fool us again. This is not government-run.”

I fail to see how, under any definition, government requirements for mandated insurance coverage (including who must be covered, who must pay and what sorts of procedures/illnesses must be covered) isn’t “government-run.” I mean, the government isn’t exactly taking the premium payments and cutting checks to the doctors, but it would be calling all the shots under Hillary’s plan.

And that, my friends, is “government-run.” That Hillary has to hide the fact that her plan is, essentially, socialized medicine is telling.

By the way, anyone wondering where Hillary got the idea for this new health care plan?  Mitt Romney, maybe?  It’s essentially the same thing as what Romney got passed in Massachusetts.  What’s scary is that “Romneycare” hasn’t worked in Mass., but Hillary keeps pushing it anyway.

Art, that is the goal of Democrats. They can not control you if you run your own business. They can harass you, they can steal from you, that ain’t good enough. They want you dependent upon them for all your basic needs. That is the end goal of socialists, to drag everyone down to the same, miserable, starving, disease-ridden level. Then Government can save the day.

Back in the day, you used to see that about every night at midnight, right after the national anthem, or a recitation on “High Flight” or both, just before the transmitter shut down for the day.
Yep! Three whole channels, twelve hours a day! Sha-zam!

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth…

Here’s the updated version of the high flight sign-off. I’ve been looking for some time for the original F-104 version but I haven’t found it.

It’s available on DVD for $29 which I think is quite steep for something the guy doesn’t own the rights to.

Didn’t the F-104 show the pilot reaching up as the narrator read “and touched the face of God”.  It’s been a few years.

When we got our first tiny screen television, I was about 6-7 years old, it only had one channel, it only broadcasted about 6 hours each day - the rest of the time it was a test pattern, it was of course black and white, and the first show I remember was Mighty Mouse, who came to save the day, oh and Kookla Fran and Ollie.

Until then I listened to The Shadow and other shows on the radio in the barn while I milked the cows in the early evening, on Sunday mornings they read the Funny Papers on the radio, all in sophisticated Idaho.

Too damn old.  Let me put it this way snd let your imagination do the rest.  I graduated from high school in 1952.  In my life span I have seen and forgotten more than most of you young ‘whipper-snappers’.  [Wasn’t that one of Gabby Hayes favorite expressions] Surely you know who that was, Zsa?

Whistler: quit acting like a Democrat and changing the subject - what did you mean by “Ahem?”

“The Whistler” was a very popular radio show that competed strongly with the Shadow program.  Of course it never unseated the Shadow so naturally I would be jealous of the Shadow.

If you hadn’t noticed I linked to a number of the Whistler radio shows for your enjoyment.  Here they are again.

So anyway the Shadow was Lamont Cranston who spent most of his time hanging out with the Lovely Margo Lane.

So I posted pictures of the original players for those parts, Orson Wells and Agnes Morehead to make my point that the Whistler is more better.

I’m a fan of old time radio although I never heard it on the air.  I learned about them through cassette tapes.  I find it funny that I have these shows that were done in the 30, 40’s and 50’s on my Ipod.  Times change.  So when I begun blogging it was natural that I should choose my nom du blog from my list of radio shows.

Here I thought I was being clever.
