CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — fiery anti-American leaders whose moves to extend their influence have alarmed Washington — said Saturday they would help finance investment projects in other countries seeking to thwart U.S. domination.
The two countries had previously revealed plans for a joint $2 billion fund to finance investments in Venezuela and Iran, but the leaders said Saturday the money would also be used for projects in friendly countries throughout the developing world.
“It will permit us to underpin investments ... above all in those countries whose governments are making efforts to liberate themselves from the (U.S.) imperialist yoke,” Chavez said.
“This fund, my brother,” the Venezuelan president said, referring affectionately to Ahmadinejad, “will become a mechanism for liberation.”
“Death to U.S. imperialism!” Chavez said.
Ahmadinejad, who is starting a tour of left-leaning countries in the region, called it a “very important” decision that would help promote “joint cooperation in third countries,” especially in Latin America and Africa.
You all will remember Ahmadinejad from his country’s support of terrorism in Iraq and their holocaust denial conferences (starring none other than “American acadameic” crazy racist moron David Duke.
And you’ll remember Chavez from his tour of America where he received standing ovations from union leaders and college professors. You know, the guy Democrat darling Cindy Sheehan was seen hugging and kissing while she told reporters that she’d rather live in Venezuela than America. He’s also the guy who bent over for an ass-kissing from Harry Bellafonte right before old Harry did a fund raiser with none other than Hillary Clinton.
The left has had a crush on Chavez for some time now. I even had to hear my very liberal new father-in-law tell me how Chavez isn’t “such a bad guy” because he gave heating oil to poor Americans. But now Chavez is proving himself to be what the right has known he is all along. A monster. A communist thug who aims to bring America down, even if that means working with a Jew-hating, holocaust-denying dictator from a terror-supporting theocracy in the middle east.
Will the left abandon Chavez now, or will they keep their love affair even now that he’s in league with the jihadists in an open plot against our interests in the world? Probably a little of both. The crazier elements on the left will keep their open support of Chavez, while the less-crazy elements will renounce him, but everyone on the left who has ever apologized for Chavez ought to be ashamed of themselves now. Though they should have been ashamed of their support for him all along.
