Herman Cain Wins Presidential Straw Poll in Phoenix

Herman Cain wins Tea Party presidential live straw poll at Phoenix summit

And, although most straw polls are worth every bit as much straw as you can take away from them, this one is interesting!

Which Republican should become the next president? Herman Cain, according to a number of Tea Party activists gathered at a weekend summit in Phoenix.

Cain, a conservative talk show host and former Godfather’s Pizza chief executive, won the American Policy Summit’s presidential live straw poll on Sunday. Republican Rep. Ron Paul of Texas won the summit’s online poll. The survey is a chance for conservative activists gathered on the last day of the Tea Party Patriots conference to name their favorite presidential picks.

Cain won nearly 22 percent of the nearly 1,600 votes cast. Paul won nearly half the votes cast by more than 2,300 online registered attendees. “The mood at this summit shows that Tea Party activists are looking for leaders who share our principles of fiscal responsibility and limited government and who will vow to uphold policies that reflect those principles once in office,” said Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots.

“Mr. Cain and Rep. Paul’s positions resonated with Tea Party Patriots this weekend and the straw poll indicates the enthusiasm for these strong conservatives,” said Mark Meckler, the Patriots’ other national coordinator.

I’d make some snarky remark about how Ron Paul’s supporters somehow always manage to put him in first place on Internet polls, no matter how little actual support he has, but I already did!

Looks like a chance to have a person in the Oval Office who is both black AND a president.

    • Anonymous

Wonder if he has a certificate of live birth on record with fact check?

  • Anonymous

Why? What message? Who is he? What are the skeletons in his closet? I worry about a man that hasn’t been vetted, that comes out of nowhere, no name identification. I know Bat1, whom I respect greatly, likes this guy, but I want to know a lot more, an ocean more.

Ron Paul goes nowhere, he is at best a spoiler, a pea under the mattress. His followers are just barely this side of nuts. He might make a good city manager for nowhere, U.S.A..

The only guy that has sparked my interest for 2012 is Rep. Ryan!

Herman Cain has a long public record of his “views.”

    • Anonymous

Well I do not know him or them, it is up to him and his disciples to make them known and convince the voters. You’ll forgive me if your word that record exists does not persuade me.

One of the reasons I posted this, was because the more people hear him, the more they like him. There’s video out there of him going toe to toe with Bill Clinton, back when he was still CEO of Godfather’s Pizza.
You can learn more about him at his website: http://www.hermancain.com/

American Thinker did a piece on him last month: http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/01/top_ten_reasons_to_support_her.html

Going to those links I see nothing about the key social/moral issues and I will never vote for any candidate that does not share those core faith values.

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

I wasn’t trying to convince you to vote for anyone. I just gave you a couple of places to start off to learn more about Cain. .

So I’m curious. Obviously you have big government tendencies. Just how long ago was it that you were still a Diehard Democrat, Proof?

    • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

Curious? Brain dead is more like it. I’m curious as to how many times you’ve read my stuff and gotten it completely backwards? Can you even count that high?

I’ll issue you the same challenge, Brent, I give to the equally erudite Hannitized: I’ve written thousands of posts and made tens of thousands of comments. Would you please link to even one where I have advocated big government? Other than the little voices in your head and your slavish devotion to Ron Paul (who will never be president of a large government or small) where is your evidence that I have “big government tendencies”? Use actually words. Direct quotes would be nice. Extra points if you use my words in their context.

I hope he was better then at CPAC. He came off nervous even though he was giving a speech given before.

    • 2hotel9

And you still won’t post the video of that speech. Why is that, racist Democrat a$$hole?

      • Anonymous

you are so weird. I watched the speech from the southern conservative conference. It was really good. I watched him at cpac but was disappointed. He came off nervous although it was pretty much the same speech. 2/9 go to YouTube and type in herman cain 2011 cpac. I am sure something will come up. As far as speeches go Ron Paul had the most stirring at cpac.
please go get some help 2/9

        • 2hotel9

So, you still refuse to post the video of the speech and simply continue with your racist hate spew. We. Get. It.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

Let’s recap my post so that Brent and other two year olds might follow along: I said the results of a straw poll were interesting. I said that Ron Paul supporters tilt Internet polls in his favor.
Can someone please look into the demented mind of trollian Brent and ask him how he gets “big government tendencies” out of this? (Other than the obvious, if you’re not a Ron Paul supporter, you’re many bad things.)

    • 2hotel9

tranni and boob and Brent, et al, continuously screech their racist sh*t. They hate Negroes and women almost as much as they hate America. Almost, but not quite.

      • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

Brent is a perfect example of why Paul could never be elected. Paul’s most rabid followers (the Paulbots) don’t seek to build any coalition that might impact the purity of the One, er, the Doctor!
So, rather than recruit potential allies among conservatives, they practice a slash and burn against anyone who doesn’t immediately fall down and kiss Paul’s feet.

They just can’t seem to comprehend that to oppose Ron Paul’s candidacy is not to oppose the Constitution or everything conservative, it is opposition to one flawed individual. There is much common ground in our belief system. The major difference is that I believe that Ron Paul won’t (and never should) be President.

A buncha Paulistas invaded Breitbart a couple of weeks ago. I told ‘em if they really wanted Paul to have a chance, they should shut up. With friends like those ………

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

Yeah. I’ve praised Paul for his stand on the Second Amendment and the Constitution, but as soon as I list any of the reasons that disqualify him from the highest office in the land, and by extension, the world, they stick their fingers in their ears and call me names.

We are still waiting for the paulettes to explain why, if Herr Doktor is the greatess human being to ever draw breath, he has spent the last 30 odd years sitting in Congress ramming his pockets full of our money? And why, if Herr Doktor is such a great and altruistic Man of Medicine, he surrendered his medical license in lieu of a fight in court?

And lets just skip over Luap Nor and UFOs. That just totally unhinges the paulettes.

Cain had a great interview with Bret Baier last week.

  • Anonymous

You haven’t heard of Cain’s views for the same reason that BHO is considered a great orator. The MSM is scared to death of Cain. They will more than likely try and find his version of Anita Hill.

    • 2hotel9

They already tried that and failed miserably.

Rob said, “I’d make some snarky remark about how Ron Paul’s supporters somehow always manage to put him in first place on internet polls, no matter how little actual support he has, but I already did!”

Geez, and guys like Rob and the rest of this blog wonder why people are passionate about defending Ron Paul?

He finishes 4th out of 11 candidates in 08. No respect.

He alerts in public debate the real problem with the economy – the Federal Reserve (now it’s “mainstream”). No respect.

He votes consistently with the constitution, which benefits all citizens vs. the big corps. No respect.

Faux News keeps him out of debates, then runs old CPAC coverage with booing after his win.

Faux Network kool aid hacks (O Riely, Hannity ect) keep saying the “internet votes” are “rigged” by Ron Paul supporters after Ron Paul wins. No respect.

Ron Paul supporters start the Tea Party movement in 2007 and then is co-opted by the GOP. No respect.

In this article Ron Paul had more overall votes than Mr. Cain, but again, that doesn’t count. No respect.

Yeah…no reason for Ron Paul supporters to be a bit pissed. None at all.

    • 2hotel9

And another paulette toddles through and cries, boohoohoo.

      • Guest

Who’s crying? It’s about who’s lying. Funny thing is, Ron Paul nor his supporters need to lie. I wonder why everyone else needs to?

        • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

“Ron Paul nor his supporters need to lie” That’s right. They don’t need to, so when they do, (like artificially inflating Internet poll numbers), it’s all the more disconcerting.

        • 2hotel9

Luap Nor has been in Congress since ’79, ramming his pockets full of our money and lying his a$$ off. And you paulettes keep crying and screeching. Your boy Luap Nor will NEVER be President of the US. Not ever, and all you can do is cry.

        • 2hotel9

Tell us, paulette, Why are you so angry about a successful, articulate black man being so superior to your boy Luap Nor. Give us a legitimate reason, just one.
