Herman Cain Schedules “Major Announcement” For Saturday In Georgia
2:37pm
He’s going home, ostensibly to have a heart-to-heart with his wife, but he’s also scheduling a big announcement which almost certainly has to be the culmination of his presidential campaign.
Because his campaign is over, whether he likes it or not.
(Fox News) — Herman Cain reportedly plans to make a “major announcement” this Saturday, as his campaign reels from new allegations about an extramarital affair.
NBC News reported that Cain is planning the announcement in Georgia. It would come as he returns home to discuss the future of his campaign with his family.
Cain earlier told Fox News that while he’s spoken with his wife Gloria every day this week, he’ll be at home Friday “so we can sit down and talk face to face.”
After a woman came forward claiming a 13-year extramarital affair with Cain, the candidate has insisted his family is his No. 1 consideration as he weighs whether to scratch his campaign altogether.
Meanwhile, die hard Cain apologists are still clinging hopefully to the idea that the Herminator is innocent in all the sexual escapades and harassment he’s been accused of, but at what point does giving Cain the benefit of the doubt turn into self delusion?
By Cain’s own admission, he had a 13 year friendship (he denies sex) with this woman during which time he’s had late night phone calls and text conversations with her and given her significant amounts of money. By Cain’s own admission, his wife didn’t know a thing about any of it.
But we’re supposed to believe it was all above board. Cain’s supporters need to realize that just because the media is biased, just because they’re actively trying to undermine his character and his campaign, doesn’t necessarily mean that the accusations against him are false.
I like Herman Cain. I think he’s extremely charismatic. I first heard him speak in 2007 at an Americans for Prosperity event in Washington DC and I was electrified. That being said, I’m not a stupid person, and I’m not buying what he’s selling on these accusations.
It’s time for Herman Cain to go home, make things right with his wife, and move on with his life.
