Heitkamp’s Good Friend Harry Reid Running Ads Against Rick Berg Again
10:47am
Majority PAC, the super PAC founded and supported by the anti-oil, anti-coal Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is running a new ad in North Dakota accusing Berg having “gone Washington” again.
“Rick Berg is a risk to your retirement,” says the ad entitled “Sly One” accusing Berg of wanting to privatize Social Security. “He’s changed. He’s gone Washington.”
We’ll find out if this entitlement fear mongering will work for Heitkamp. It was political gold in years past, but have we reached a point where Americans are beginning to realize that Social Security and Medicare really do have problems? And really do need reforms?
Time will tell.
By the way, Majority PAC is putting $1.6 million into this ad and campaigns in three other states – Indiana, Ohio and Montana. I don’t know what North Dakota’s share of that budget is, but it’s likely to put Majority PAC well over the over $700,000 Crossroads GPS has spent on opposing Heitkamp.
And yet, we don’t hear much about Majority PAC from the state media? As I pointed out last week, while the Fargo Forum gives each Crossroads ad an alleged “fact checking,” Majority PAC’s advertising barely gets mentioned.
I’m sure that’s just a coincidence.
