Heitkamp Votes Against Defunding Obamacare
This won’t really come as news to much of anyone, but Senator Heidi Heitkamp won a narrow election in a red state, and it’s always worth mentioning when she governs to the left of the electorate she represents.
Yesterday Senator Heitkamp voted in a partisan-line vote with Democrats to keep funding for Obamacare in place.
Here’s the roll call (Senator Hoeven, obviously, voted with Republicans).
The purpose of the amendment, introduced by Senator Ted Cruz, was “To prohibit the use of funds to carry out the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”
In related news, in addition to Obamacare killing jobs and driving up health insurance costs, it appears as though getting health insurance through the program will be as simple and complicated as…doing your taxes.
That’s what Heitkamp voted “yes” for. Health insurance that is more expensive and harder to get.
