Heitkamp Joins National Democrats In Assault On Political Speech
9:30pm
Liberal Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp has been working hard to distance herself from her national party, but one issue where she’s standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid is the DISCLOSE Act. It’s a law attacking private political groups forcing them to reveal their contributors, no doubt so the left can target them for attacks in the same way other Republican/conservative supporters are already being attacked.
Today on Twitter, Heitkamp affirmed her support for the legislation which Democrats have been trying, and failing, to pass since Obama took office.

It’s not surprising at all that Heitkamp would lend her support to a thuggish, anti-free speech law like the DISCLOSE Act given the actions of her fellow North Dakota Democrats and their allies in the state media. This week Democrats and their de facto media arm Forum Communications launched an assault on political contributions from oil industry employees, and Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ryan Taylor released a “white paper” on state ethics (following up on a George Soros-funded Forum Communications report claiming North Dakota was one of the most corrupt states in the nation).
That all of these attacks on political contributions would largely leave the union political power structure in place is, obviously, by design.
Democrats are working hard to create a certain narrative about political contributions – that businesses and certain industries should have no say in politics – and trying to implement laws to pursue that agenda.
And Heitkamp, along with her fellow North Dakota Democrats, are sitting on the bandwagon.
