Heidi Heitkamp Touring North Dakota With Self-Described “Bearded Marxist” Who Supports Cap And Trade

I was bemused to learn today that liberal Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp had brought to North Dakota Chris Coons, a Senator from Delaware who once described himself as a “bearded Marxist.”

It’s an odd choice for Heitkamp, who has made much of the notion that she’s independent rather than a Democrat. Heitkamp has also tried to distance herself from her party’s anti-fossil fuel stance, including their opposition to building the Keystone Pipeline and their support for far-reaching federal environmental regulatoins such as cap and trade.

Yet here Heitkamp is today campaigning beside Coons who voted against building the Keystone pipeline and supports cap and trade policy.

Heitkamp wants us to believe that she’s not as liberal as her fellow Democrats. That she’ll be in an “independent.” Yet Senator Coons is trying to help her get elected. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has lavished money on Heitkamp’s campaign.

Heitkamp’s words don’t match her actions.
