Heidi Heitkamp Puts Up Her Best Fundraising Quarter Yet
10:49am
The Associated Press is reporting that liberal Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp raised $977,000 in her last fundraising period. That’s her best so far based on a per-day fundraising rate.
From the day she announced her campaign through the end of 2011 Heidi Heitkamp raised a total of $450,095.25, a $8,335.10/day rate.
In the first quarter of 2012, though, Heitkamp’s fundraising rate plunged by 21%, to $6,555.55/day.
In the second quarter, though, Heitkamp’s really kicked it into gear. In the 90 days from April 1st through June 30th Heitkamp’s $977,000 raised works out to $10,855.55/day.
It’s clear Democrats sense blood in the water in North Dakota are are going to pour money into Heitkamp’s campaign to hold onto the state’s Senate seat. No word yet on Berg’s figures.
Update: A reader reminds me that releasing fundraising totals in advance of releasing an actual fundraising report allows candidates to get their total in the news first, with any stories about where the money came from secondary to the first story.
