Heidi Heitkamp Posts $500,000 Fundraising Total For 2011

Upon entering the US Senate race, and before she could even begin to get over obstacles to her campaign like her vocal support for the unpopular Barack Obama and unpopular policies like Obamacare, Heidi Heitkamp had to prove she was a viable candidate. There is an entire generation of North Dakota voters who don’t remember the last time Heitkamp won an election, and despite her current flirtations with Republicanism, she’s moved far to the left since the last time she held statewide office.

To that end, Democrats manufactured a couple of polls from Democrat pollsters claiming that she was competitive with Republican Rick Berg (the likely nominee for the NDGOP, and went on a media blitz in an attempt to prove to national liberal interests that she can win in North Dakota. That campaign seems to have worked to a degree, as Heitkamp put up a decent fundraising total in 2011:

WASHINGTON — The campaign of North Dakota Democrat Heidi Heitkamp’s said Friday she raised just under $500,000 for her U.S. Senate bid in the final quarter of 2011.

Heitkamp’s campaign released her fundraising numbers to The Associated Press on Friday. The former North Dakota attorney general and one-time gubernatorial candidate is running to replace Sen. Kent Conrad, also a Democrat, who is retiring at the end of his term. GOP Rep. Rick Berg is also running for the seat.

Heitkamp campaign spokeswoman Gail Hand said Heitkamp was pleased with the wide spectrum of people who gave to her campaign.

Hand also is quoted in the article as saying, “The breadth of this support demonstrates that North Dakotans want leaders who will set party interests aside and put North Dakota and our country first,” but I’m guessing there isn’t a lot of this money that actually came from North Dakotans. Heitkamp needed to make a good showing with this fundraising report, and there’s no way she was going to do that based on the depleted fundraising networks of North Dakota Democrats alone.

It will be interesting to see what Heitkamp’s campaign fundraising report shows in terms of just where this money came from.

Once again you lie about “manufactured polls.”  No matter how often you say it, it still won’t be true.  Ask  a republican pollster about Hart polling and they will tell you it is a legitimate polling firm.

And I ‘m sure you will be posting where Berg is getting his money and where he is having his fundraisers.  I’ll be watching…..ha!

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

I posted where Berg’s money came from after the last report.

And Hart was the same polling outfit that told us, right before the 2010 election, that Earl Pomeroy was going to win.

Nobody is, or should be, taking Democrat-paid-for polls by Democrat pollsters seriously.

      • Dakotacyr

You know better than that, a poll is a snapshot in time. Really, Rob I know this is your full time gig now oh never mind, accuracy and the truth have never been your strong points.

        • Cherz1967

. . . and reality has never been yours.

So the news release goes out, and the full FEC filing isn’t available yet? That’s spin, no matter who does it.

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

Yeah, I think that’s true.  In the House race, Kevin Cramer and Shane Goettle each had fairly impressive numbers, and the put out a press release at the same time they posted their FEC reports.

Kalk and Grande, who had less impressive numbers, put out press releases with no report.

      • Camsaure

I wonder if Grande probably raised more  in state money then Hidey did.

        • Dakotacyr

          Probably not.

  • Rick Olson

It will be very interesting to find out where Heidi’s money came from and who the donors are.

    • Anonymous

I’ll guess they’re not from North Dakota(this includes Kent Comrad).

When I view her picture a thought comes to mind “misery”

  • Fendell

Dakotacyr is kneejerking again. He really should have that looked at.

Why do foreign owned credit card donations under 50.00 each come to mind…….untraceable

Every Dem’cat will copy what Obama Did in 2008 for fundraising…………..

There isnt enough icbm missle technology to sell to the Chi Comes every election as the Clinton’ista’s did in the 90′s,    Obama admin has allowed the present day Chi Coms to obtain it already anyway

12 REASONS TO VOTE DEMOCRATWhen your family or friends cannot explain why they voted Democrat, give them this list. Then they can then pick a reason from this “TOP 12″.1. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.2. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.3. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.4. I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.5. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a PiousPrius.6. I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.7. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the social security from those who paid into it.8. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.9. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.10. I voted Democrat because I think that it’s better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher or fish.11. I voted Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, I was promised “HOPE AND CHANGE”.12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass, it’s unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view.

The democrat party no longer exemplifies American values.   I can no longer, in good conscience vote for any member of the democrat party.  Ever since they put that communist in the white house.   They act conservative until they get elected, and then they tote the party line———lock step to what the communist in chief wants     No sirree Bob.

Seems the Herald is giving a daily progress report, complete with anachronistic photo, of Heidi’s campaign.  Don’t know why she needs her own web page.
