Heidi Heitkamp: Karl Rove Is Attacking Me With Video Of Me Saying Obama Is Awesome

Earlier this week Crossroads GPS, an independent political action committee founded by Karl Rove, announced an advertising campaign here in North Dakota. The ad they’re running features Heidi Heitkamp saying that Barack Obama is awesome (the video that will get you threatened with legal action from Democrats if you post it on the internet). In fact, I’d post the video of the ad for you, but I can’t. Because it’s not available on the internet thanks to Democrats.

Now Heitkamp is claiming, in a fundraising email, that Karl Rove is attacking her. By, uh, pointing out that she said Obama is awesome.

It’s a war on women!

Yesterday, Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS started airing ads across North Dakota attacking me. You might have already seen them.

They’re spending $76,475 to air these and you can be sure — it’s just the beginning.

This is what we’ve come to expect from the Washington establishment. They feel threatened. They’re coming after us because they know what you and I know: We can win.

We’ve got a strong campaign. Ugly commercials aren’t going to distract us or make us go away. But if we don’t fight back and set the record straight, these ads will have an effect.

There’s no doubt about it.

We need to raise $76,475 by next Friday so we can match Karl Rove. I’m counting on you to help me punch back.

The Democrat National Committee is actually already matching the Crossroads ad buy, but mentioning that doesn’t make Heitkamp seem like as much of a victim I guess.

You do have to marvel at just how hysterical North Dakota Democrats are about that Obama video. From their efforts to make it disappear from the internet to Heitkamp characterizing its use as an “attack,” they’re working overtime to make it seem like Heitkamp never gave her full-throated approval for Barack OBama.
