Heidi Heitkamp Challenges Rick Berg To Debate Hosted By Her Supporters
Fresh off claiming that nobody can criticize her support for Obamacare because she had breast cancer one time, Heidi Heitkamp is using a tried-and-true campaign gimmick against Rick Berg: Challenge your opponent to a zillion debates and if he doesn’t immediately accept every single one claim that he’s “ducking” debates.
The Heitkamp campaign pitched that story to North Dakota’s most biased political reporter Kristen Daum (who once accused Berg of being fiscally irresponsible because he owed himself $100,000) who promptly “reported” it.
Because that’s journalism and stuff.
To be fair, I do think that Berg and Heitkamp should debate multiple times, though I don’t think we need the state’s Senate race to become the sort of reality television affair the numerous presidential debates became.
But it is interesting to note that one of the debates Heitkamp has accepted is being hosted by a group of her supporters. Heitkamp wants to debate Berg at a debate hosted by the Lignite Energy Council. That would be the same Lignite Energy Council that recently hosted a fundraiser for Heitkamp (much to the chagrin of many in the state’s coal industry).
What’s next, Heitkamp challenging Berg to debate her on her brother’s radio show?
