Senate Candidate Heidi Heitikamp Announces That She’s Not Attending Democrat National Convention

Last week I wrote, in a post about Democrats choosing to skip their national convention, that Heidi Heitkamp would be someone who I thought might try the ploy. Turns out I was right. Heidi Heitkamp is running so far and fast from her national party, and President Obama (who she said, once up a time, was “amazing”) that she’s not attending the Democrat national convention:

North Dakota Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp will skip the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this September.

Heitkamp’s spokesman Brandon Lorenz told Hotline On Call that the former state attorney general will be campaigning in North Dakota rather than attending the gathering.

It’s amazing how different candidate Heitkamp is from non-candidate Heitkamp. In 2008, non-candidate Heitkamp was an outspoken, unreserved cheerleader for Obamacare and President Obama. In 2012, candidate Heitkamp claims she had doubts about Obamacare and won’t even attend her party’s national convention.

The question is: Which Heitkamp is the authentic Heitkamp? The non-candidate, 2008 Heitkamp or the desperate-to-win, 2012 Senate candidate Heitkamp?
