Walmart limiting ammo sales due to shortages

Walmart has started to limit sales of ammunition to three boxes per customer per day due to limited supplies, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Sales of guns and ammunition have risen across the United States since the December 14 shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school.

Walmart U.S., is the largest unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc the world’s largest retailer and the largest U.S. gun seller. The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer had said that it works to strike the right balance between serving hunters and sportsmen and ensuring that it sells firearms responsibly.

“In order to take care of as many customers as possible, starting Thursday, January 24, all ammunition sales were limited to three boxes per customer, per day as supply is limited at this time,” spokeswoman Ashley Hardie told Reuters on Wednesday.

    yawing old news,

W-M has been limiting ammo for at least the last 5-6 weeks, IF they even have in in your caliber in stock, they have been out of .22 and 9mm for 6 weeks, if you are lucky like we were 3 weeks ago we picked up 3 boxes each of 9mm (50 rnds) and I bought one box (50rnds) of .45 ACP when you shoot at the range every week 50 or even 150 rounds doesn’t last very long.

I don’t mind the limits, as long as I can buy at least a box or 2 per trip, as ALL the local ammo vendors WM Scheels, Gander Mountain, and Mills Fleet Farm have been very fair about pricing, I’ll take limits over price increases.

We now talk about shooting at the indoor range as hunting in reverse, shoot, then hunt for ammo for the next weekend.
