ND Democrats pick new leaders

Chairman, Bob Valeu – Valeu recently retired from KLJ Engineering, where he was the Director of Government Relations from 2008 until January of this year. Prior to his tenure with KLJ, he served as US Senator Byron Dorgan’s State Director. Valeu is a graduate of UND and an Air Force Veteran and has been involved in politics since his served as the youngest Executive Director of the Dem-NPL Party in 1966. Valeu and his wife, Marge, have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Vice Chairwoman, Jackie Stebbins – Stebbins is a limited partner at Bliss & Stebbins Law Firm in Bismarck where she primarily practices in the areas of family and criminal law. She has been involved in North Dakota Dem-NPL politics since she was in college.

Stebbins and her husband, Sean, have one daughter.

Secretary, Joanne Beckman – Beckman is from New Salem and works as a field representative for US Senator Heidi Heitkamp in her Bismarck office. Prior to joining the Senator’s staff, she worked with Dickinson State and Minot State on energy impact grants, served as Roger Johnson’s assistant in the ND Department of Agriculture, and taught English at New Salem High School. Beckman also serves on the ND State Fair Foundation Board of Directors, St. Pius Parish Council, Kennedy Memorial Foundation Board, and New Salem Park Board.

Treasurer, Sharon Swan – Swan is a resident of Fargo and has been involved in the ND Dem-NPL since she first moved to the state in 2004. She is a CPA and works for Sperion Staffing Services as an Accountant.

Rob Port is the editor of SayAnythingBlog.com. In 2011 he was a finalist for the Watch Dog of the Year from the Sam Adams Alliance and winner of the Americans For Prosperity Award for Online Excellence. In 2013 the Washington Post named SAB one of the nation's top state-based political blogs, and named Rob one of the state's best political reporters. He writes a weekly column for several North Dakota newspapers, and also serves as a policy fellow for the North Dakota Policy Council.
