AG Eric Holder hints at gun control push after Connecticut shooting

Attorney General Eric Holder made remarks a short time ago on the tragic school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, where a 20-year-old gunman killed 20 children and six adults. Holder appeared to suggest the country’s gun laws may need to be looked at more closely in the wake of the latest mass shooting.

“As a nation I think we have to ask ourselves some hard questions. We gather too often to talk about these kinds of incidents. We need to discuss who we are as a nation, talk about the freedoms that we have, the rights that we have and how those might be used in a responsible way. But for now I think we should concentrate on dealing with the situation in Connecticut and we are doing, as I said, the best that we can at the Justice Department and throughout federal law enforcement,” Holder said.

Liberals just don’t get it, they think restricting our liberties is the way to construct a socialist utopia on earth, a godless state where man tames all evils and all the people have to do is surrender their freedom to succeed and their freedom to fail. If only the people could be controlled, but they cannot be with the Bill of Rights intact and the worst is their right to defend themselves, for those weapons could also be used to resist tyranny.

There can never by a utopia on earth as we can never tame the beast within the hearts of some men, only a return to a fear of Nature’s God as the ultimate Judge can hope to restrain evil. But, Liberals, Libertarians and Atheists will never see that simple truth, they will continue to use the law and take away our liberties, to use them to force all men to see the world through their amoral/immoral eyes, they must take away our rights as good parents and when they take away enough and we have none left, they will have solved nothing

So the price of liberty is 20 dead kids?
Is that what you’re preaching, Old Pal?

      You killed those kids, Neiman.

Why can’t you stop lying? We all know you are a liar, you should try and stop.

I am not your pal – liar.

I had nothing to do with killing those kids, but you did when you and your ilk kicked God out of the country. So, you lied again. (Plus, you have over 50 million helpless, innocent children you have murdered in the womb to answer for.)

I said nothing about 20 dead kids being the price of liberty, lie #3.

Three strike and you are out LIAR!

Let’s take away everyone’s guns, boooob. Let’s start with your butt buddy’s, hannitized’s semi automatic assault weapons with the night scopes. Or are you going to pick and choose who keeps their guns? You know it’s just a matter of time until hannitized goes over the edge and kills someone.

Well how many traffic deaths do we tolerate for the freedom of car travel?

The world is an imperfect place. I’m not prepared to sell my freedoms down the river in pursuit of some utopia.

rube, what were you just saying about straw men?

          • Rob

I’m not sure you actually know what that term means.

I’m not sure you are self aware.

            I am.

I don’t think the solution – in so far as their is a solution – to shootings such as the one in Connecticut lays with diminishing our freedoms.

I don’t think there’s really anything we can do to stop random people from going crazy and attacking other people. There is a lot we can do to encourage people to be prepared to defend themselves, though.

Thus, the answer is more freedom, not less.

That’s my reasoned, articulated position on this issue. Now respond by calling me a “nutter” or something, troll.

Certainly you support a ban on military style weapons and high capacity mags, dontcha, rube?

          • willieB

So you’re in favor in taking away your butt buddy’s (hannitized) semi automatic assault weapon with the night scope, right?

          • Guest

Rob doesn’t have very consistent reasoning. He rejects the criticism that his position also supports personal nuclear weapons as reductio ad absurdum, but also argues that if we ban guns we should ban cars. Derp.

You are living proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

  • Noodak

How about this, we talk about gun control when we have a full year of no crime. Seems like a fair trade.

100’s of millions of gun owners killed no one yesterday….
But a few crazies always come to the surface to exploite, no..
