HBO Show About Liberal Free Speech Martyrs Is Ironically Timed Given Reaction To Tiller Murder
Last night while I was preparing for my radio show and my DVR was preparing to record Into The Storm (HBO’s excellent-looking film about Winston Churchill) I saw a promo for something called Shouting Fire. It’s apparently an HBO documentary about free speech, staring none other than Ward Churchill among others.
What’s interesting is that it’s stated as fact, both in the promo I saw and in the documentary’s description on the internet, that Churchill was fired for inflammatory comments about 9/11. That’s not actually true. He was fired for being a plagiarist and a fraud. His inflammatory comments about 9/11 just happened to draw attention to those things.
But what’s really interesting is that this documentary, defending the honor of Ward Churchill, comes out at a time when the left is currently trying to hang the murder of abortionist George Tiller around the necks of people like Bill O’Reilly and the pro-life movement in general.
That’s the funny thing about free speech for liberals, I guess. They can say inflammatory and controversial things. When conservatives do it, it’s hate speech and/or aiding and abetting murder.
