Harry Reid: The War Is Lost

Don’t you dare question his patriotism.

The war in Iraq “is lost” and a US troop surge is failing to bring peace to the country, the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Congress, Harry Reid, said Thursday.
“I believe … that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week,” Reid said, on the same day US President George W. Bush was giving a speech at an Ohio town hall meeting defending the war on terror.

So Harry thinks the war is lost. Today anyway. But just three days ago Reid was still talking about giving the troops a “strategy for success” and giving the troops “every penny” they need.
Which is it? Are we going to try to be successful in Iraq or are we just going to give up and come home?
I think the answer for the Democrats is “neither.” They aren’t interested in trying to win the war in Iraq (as evidenced by Harry’s declaration of defeat above) nor are they interested in withdrawing gracefully. Which is why they aren’t framing their withdrawal calls in the context of “we’ve accomplished what we can now it’s time to come home” rhetoric.
The Democrats want nothing less than a full-scale defeat and embarrassment for the President in Iraq, because that’s what will help them the most politically. They want that, and they don’t care how many troops have to die to get it.

I have a recommendation for the Democrat Party about how they could design television, radio and print advertisements for their Party; and for their Presidential and other candidates starting this year: The text would read something like this ->

"Illegal aliens, criminals, terrorists and petty dictators from all over the world support the Democrat Party, why don't you vote for their party too?"

    "VOTE DEMOCRAT!"

Hapless Harry and his fellow travelers have their futures invested in defeat.

What exactly has Harry Reid contributed towards "winning" this war?

The defeatocrats not so devious plan is like Vietnam have us leave Iraq and Afghanistan with our tail between our legs and they are doing by cutting off funding just like they did in Vietnam. This was so predictable if the Democrats got control of Congress. All those that sat out the 2006 elections, voted 3rd parties or switch from Republican to Democrat candidates are mostly at fault.

What has the Republican party done to win this war, since Democrats are the reason we're losing? I saw us rush in undermanned, not have the needed equipment, not have a strategy, not go for the kill, but just settle in and wait to see what happened.

Supporting the troops would've been to have a actual plan!! Supporting the troops would be getting the best leaders, not the best YES MEN! But of course non of that played a role here, it was the democrats who lost the war… I thought this was an educated country, but non of these so called college grads can see throught the media smoke. Good Ole Boy Cheaney could shoot his friend, but dodged war all his life! Bush also, but they know how to run a war best?? Gimme a break!!

If you are going to wage a war, wage one to WIN! Placing more troops in a failed situation 6 years after you screwed in the 1st polace and still wont admit it, is not a plan for success. thats a plan to cove my ass in historys eyes… This was is lost, and like it our not your OH SO GOLDEN republicans lost it by not listening to anyone who had a clue. Ran off all the people who disagreed with them, and now have the nerve to say if you disagree, you are not a real American, even though its been proven that thery're wrong now, were wrong then, and are gonna be wrong tomorrow!!!!

Why don't you cowboys move on back to Texas w/ "W", that we we can coral the whole lot of ya and be done! Dumb is dumb, whether republican or democrat. Face it, it was the republicans this time…!

We won the war. Saddam is deposed and dead. The Baath party is no longer viable, and there are no weapons of mass destruction. We achieved our goals. Now let's get the fuck out of Dodge er…Bagdad, and leave those people alone to find their destiny like we found ours.

    Have Courage,
We can win. We are winning. The only way to lose is to give up. Take heart. Our enemies are frightened. They are desperate for us to quit. That is the only way that the enemy can win. We are almost there. Victory is in our hands. Fight the good fight every moment.

Well that's the spirit! Ignore the deposed dictator, the successful elections, and the new democracy. Just declare it "lost" and call the Republicans stupid names!

My, what a simple world some live in.
