Harry Reid: Putting The Troops In Danger For The Sake Of Pork

Don Surber:

A year ago, almost to the date, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said, “We’re going to do everything we can to make sure that our troops get everything they need, everything, without any exception. But what we’re not going to do is continually fund all these contractors over there… “

Today, Reid continues to block votes on funding the war. Asked by Republican John Cornyn of Texas to yield on a bill that would fund research for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) to finally 3 months after the deadline take up Iraq funding, Reid incredibly said no.

Here’s video of Reid’s quote from 2006:

Here’s video of Reid’s quote from today:

The war in Iraq is going well.  British troops are going home victorious.  Our own troops are more and more transitioning from combat leadership roles to support roles for Iraqi security forces.  But there’s still a lot of mission left, and Harry Reid won’t give up the funding necessary to complete that mission (and provide our troops with the supplies and equipment necessary to keep them safe) because of a petulant tantrum he’s throwing about a small bit of pork in the appropriations bill.

Reid voted in favor of the war in Iraq and thus sent our troops there.  He promised in 2006 to fund the troops.  Now he’s abandoning them over needless pork barrel spending.
