Seriously, how must it feel to be Harry Reid?  You win control of the Senate.  You are flush with victory.  And then over the next two years, you are castrated by Bush and the Republicans at every turn.  You lose on everything and accomplish nothing.

The only thing left to you is to deny that we are winning a war that we are winning so you can keep the campaign contributions coming in from the nutroots.

History will look back on Reid/Pelosi as the weakest, most anemic and anti-American leaders in the history of the Congress.

Please let’s keep the facts straight.  First, Senator Harry Reid reintroduced the ALS Registry Act S.1382 5/14/20007.  If Junior Senator John Cornyn is concerned for ALS patients like myself, please ask him why he has not co-sponsored that bill. Please tell him he has time, ALS patients do not.

Leon, why is it the responsibility of the Congress to find treatments for diseases? And before you get bent out of shape my father in law died from compilcations arising from ALS. And he did not, at anytime up to his death, cry that it was the governments job to fix him. So why do feel it IS their job to fix you?

As to Reid, he has been in office since ‘87, why has this issue become so vital in the last 6 months?

First I was trying to be a gentleman and will continue.  I got a response and that is exactly what ALS needs.  Your question of why Congress should find treatments for diseases is a bit short.  This is about finding a cure.  Congress spoke to the ALS Registry Act in October 2007 and spoke pretty loud by passing this bill 411 to 3.  You need to scold your Congressman and ask him what is he thinking? It is up to the Senate at this stage.

Ever wondered why ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) is part of the DOD budget in the first place?  For more than ten years studies have been conducted by researchers at the Veterans Administration and Harvard University.  Their findings were those deployed to the Southwest Asian theater of operations during the Gulf War are at an increased risk of ALS — that Gulf War veterans are approximately twice (50%) as likely to develop ALS as those not deployed to the Gulf.  Please support our Veterans.

Ther American people are the most generous, charitable and compassionate people on earth, just look at the hundred of millions of dollars given to MD research via Jerry’s Kids alone. When the American people perceive a need, they will rush to help those less fortunate than themselves; but when you ask the temprary occupants of Congress to take money from me that I earned without my permission, then I say to hell with every charity. I don’t have to be compassionate and giving, Harry Reid and other liberal asshats will take my money without my permission and they will be charitable and feel all good about themselves with money they never earned.
