Harry Reid: I Don’t Care About Sotomayor’s Rulings, I’m Supporting Her Because She’s Liberal
That’s basically what this means:
Virtually every Senator who’s asked about Sonia Sotomayor defaults to a riff about how they’re withholding judgment until they have an opportunity to nest in leather-bound chairs to her writings in scholarly solitude for hours and hours.
Not Harry, he’s good to go.
“I understand that during her career, she’s written hundreds and hundreds of opinions. I haven’t read a single one of them, and if I’m fortunate before we end this, I won’t have to read one of them,” the majority leader told reporters at the Capitol on Tuesday.
I understand that most of the people in Congress are partisan hacks. When it comes to judicial appointments, they’re mostly going to support or oppose based on whether or not they’re in the same party as the President. But you expect these people to at least pretend like they’re making decisions based on their analysis of the facts and not just toeing the party line.
