Guest Post: A Fight Worth Having
Our values are under attack in Washington. Last week’s assault on our families by the Obama Administration is just another in a long line of offenses this President and the Democrat Party has thrown onto us.
Some say that the contraception mandate issued by HHS is an attack on religious freedom and liberty, and it is. Some say it is an attack on constitutional freedom, and it is. But there is more going on here. This is not a single isolated issue and the President may change his mind on this mandate but the direction and where he wants to take our country is unmistakable.
The progressives in this country are not content to limit themselves to the destruction of Judeo-Christian principles, values and beliefs – they are building up a state religion of their own.
A religion based on the destruction of the family and a destruction of the values that make this country great. Abortion is one of the idols worshipped by the left and given the full weight of the government. And as we see every day from Washington, the Courts, Congress and the President is complicit in this assault. It is hard to believe that we are at this point in America.
My friends, this is why I decided to run for Congress. These are the fights worth having: A fight for our families, a fight for our Judeo-Christian values and a fight for everything that makes America great.
As I have in the state legislature, I will take the fight to the left in Washington. I will not back down, I will not retreat on this fight for our families.
Fifty years ago an activist Supreme Court discovered the constitutional right to abortion. And Roe’s illegitimate offspring, Casey and the rest, followed. Partial birth abortion, infanticide supported by Illinois Senator Obama and others, President Obama refusing to enforce DOMA and holding back money to Catholic charities fighting sex trafficking because of the church’s position on abortion. And the list goes on. And now, the Obamacare contraception mandate.
Some say this election is about the economy, jobs and the debt. And while those are important and while I will vote as I always have to cut taxes, debt and government, I say this election is about freedom, liberty and life. And this election is about our families and who we are willing to send 1,300 miles away to defend our families.
I am ready for that fight. It is a fight worth having.
